GOP Leadership Is Out Of Touch

Dan Reihl is right when he says that the GOP leadership inside the Washington, DC beltway is out of touch "My Warning to the Establishment GOP".  He echoes many people that I've spoken and written to over the past 2 years.  These men (mostly) and women (very few) just don't get it.  They're playing politics, when the time for politics is over.  This nation has reached a cusp when events will rapidly begin to overtake our ability to respond.
And I don't believe today's Beltway entrenched GOP is going to bring about the kind of change America needs. The leadership is weak, wasteful, misguided and out of sync with the people. The signs are all there, from Dede Scozzafava, to Charlie Crist - and worse.  And even if they reclaim this, or that majority in the fall, we will most likely see the same old politics as usual that so frustrated the Right under Bush. You don't really believe they are going to repeal ObamaCare and tell millions of people expecting health insurance at taxpayer expense they can't have it, do you? That will be politically imprudent to our Beltway ensconced GOP.  Illegal immigration? Led by soon to be ex-border cop John McCain, assuming he's re-elected, they will be calling us racists and haters, again. They have to worry about that Hispanic vote, after all.  [emphasis is mine]
I just don't see this leopard changing it's spots.  Even if the GOP manages to regain control of Congress, it won't be because of anything these "leaders" have done.  It will be inspite of them.  They are the reason why the GOP lost control of Congress in 2006-8 election cycles...because they spent like the "Democratic Lite" party they have become.  It has only taken the Democrats 18 months to show the country what real drunken sailor spending is like...with the disasterous concequences to the nation as a whole.

If given a preference, I would rather see Libertarian or Conservative Party members elected to various state houses and to the US Congress...after all, they certainly can't do any worse than that current roster of jackasses of either major party that we have "leading us down the primrose path..."

Remember November...vote them ALL out!  Reelect no one.

Where Is The MSM

I have to ask this simple question...Why is Jon Stewart and faux media the only one's to ask hard questions of the Obama Administration?

The Price of Freedom

I don't know who wrote this...but I think that it's important we understand the price paid by those men who risked everything when they signed the Declaration of Independence.
They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.   He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Remember: freedom is never free!

It's time we get the word out that patriotism is NOT a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than beer, picnics, and baseball games

Scott Brown Outpolls Kerry & Obama in Massachusetts

Scott Brown is outpolling John Kerry and Barack Obama in blue/blue Massachusetts!  In a poll taken by the Boston Gobe (a minion of the NY Times), they discovered this rather shocking fact:
After less than five months in Washington, Brown outpolls such Democratic stalwarts as President Obama and US Senator John F. Kerry in popularity, the poll indicates. He gets high marks not only from Republicans, but even a plurality of Democrats views him favorably.

The support for Brown, whose victory became a symbol of voter anger, is consistent with widespread sentiment that incumbents in Massachusetts and Washington “need to be replaced with a new crop of leaders.’’ That statement was supported by 50 percent of those polled, while 28 percent said they trust the incumbents.
If Massachusetts is turning against the Dem's...what's happening in the rest of the country?  But wait there's more...Democrats running for reelection have begun attending Tea Party events and actually took questions  from their opponents.  This is while Congressmen/women  have been ditching their constituents all over the country to avoid this very thing.
For over a year the media has been painting tea party members as wild eyed extremists. Congressmen and women have avoided town hall meetings in fear of encountering them and now sitting democratic members of the General Court attend events.

How Our Financial System Collapsed

From the comments on an article in the Washington Examiner comes this insightful comment on the origins of the financial collapse.
Gneubeck 23 hours ago

15 people liked this.

With the election of Obama, the American electorate signaled its intention to retreat from greatness; and, to initiate a descent into the financial abyss of Socialism. However, it would be prudent to cushion our landing at the bottom of the pit by curtailing Obama's redistribution technique of providing "a home in every pot".

Our current fiscal crisis, purely and simply, was initially set-in-motion by the cheerleading of the Politically Correct Social Engineering that flourished under the Clinton Administration in the artificially inflated boom years of the 1990s.

In an effort to increase minority home ownership, the Clinton regime threw sound fiscal discipline under-the-bus; and, promulgated policies that forbid mortgage lenders from using common-sense criteria such as : income; ability to afford a reasonable down payment; and, credit history, as metrics in the evaluation of mortgage applications. Charges of racism in mortgage lending practices flourished during this era; and, the lending institutions of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, flamed by Congressional diatribe that had been massaged by enormous contributions and favorable loan rates to select politicians, were appointed to lead the charge to "create" and to "absorb" non-performing assets from such institutions as Country-Wide Financial. Assets which were, by sheer definition, fraudulent loans with no ability to repay; and, "via the Quasi's" with the implied guarantee of Government backing, were proliferated throughout our financial sector as presumed safe mortgage backed securities. Aided and abetted by congressional left-wingers who, with their own insatiable appetite for social engineering, later vehemently rejected Bush Administration efforts in 2003 to re-implement sound regulatory practices, and to reign in the quasi-federal entities of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Entities which the Obama Administration has now granted "UNLIMITED" liability.

In brief, mortgage lenders were compelled BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT to abandon fiscal discipline and "RISK" as guiding principles in mortgage creation. Policies that were obscured so long as housing values continued to escalate; but, when the bubble burst similar to the dot-com fever; and, housing values began to implode, the crisis was set in motion.

Unless we own up to the historically documented cause factors of this self-constructed economic crisis that proliferated these toxic assets throughout our financial industry, we may well be doomed by current Obama policies which: seeks to forgive the principal on defaulting mortgages; continues to pressure lending institutions to continue issuing suspect loans to low-income recipients; and, blatantly excludes Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from financial regulatory reform, to repeat this debacle. Obama and his Democrat colleagues such as Frank, Dodd, Schumer, etc., continue to militantly protect Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from Republican efforts to tighten the Quasi's grossly irresponsible lending practices in the acquisition and disposition of fraudulent/worthless mortgage assets.

Barack Obama, as the second leading Senatorial recipient of lending institution largess; and, as the ACORN guru who instructed ACORN operatives in the strong-arm techniques and procedures to pressure mortgage lenders to issue loans to individuals who clearly did not have the capacity to repay, is unequivocally a principal initiator of our financial crisis; and, a determined advocate of the continuation of dangerous redistribution practices which promise to usher in still further financial meltdown.

2010, followed by 2012, have become the most important elections in American history. If left unrestrained, Obama, rather thru sheer incompetence or willful intention, will do irreparable harm to America's economic, and National Security interests.

Greg Neubeck
It's the best concise description of why we fell into a recession I've ever seen.  I would only add this...that the credit crunch of the past 2 years has been heavily exacerbated by all of the bailouts that Congress has initiated.  TARP  ($850,000,000,000.00), GM/Chrysler ($100,000,000,000.00+), the "Stimulus" (or rather Porkulus) Package ($1,000,000,000,000.00 and counting) have all contributed to the drying up of credit in this country.  Those funds were floated by the sale of government bonds and sucked up money that would have gone into the private sector as credit/loans to commerical enterprises.  The construction/light manufacuring industries only thrive when credit is readily available.  Once huge amounts of "rock-solid" government bonds dried up monies that would ordinarily been used by industry to finance projects...the possibility of a short recession was diminished, if not eliminated altogether.

Supreme Court Upholds 2nd Amendment As Personal Right

I've just finished reading the McDonald vs City of Chicago.  On first reading it seems that 2nd Amendment Binds State and Local Governments, through the 14th Amendment.  Since the Chicago ordinance is almost exactly the same as the DC ordinance that was struck down in Heller last year.  This is a clear victory on the road to guarantee that our government doesn't have the ability to disarm the populace...which is what the liberal left has been attempting to do for decades.

Rick Santelli & Lou Dobbs Talk About the "Tea Party"

New Black Panther Party: DoJ Voting Rights of Non-Minorities Not A Priority of Obama Administration

Here's and earth shattering article in the Washington Times by J. Christian Adams, who was the lead Department of Justice career attorney assigned to the Voting Rights section,  He is now based in Virginia after having sacrificed his career by daring to prosecute this case. He now blogs at http://electionlawcenter.com/. the politization of the Department of Justice in the Obama Administration.  Through out the Bush Administration the liberal media accused that administration "politicizing" the DoJ...now we have a clearcut example of DoJ dismissing a case against the New Black Panther Party for threatening violence toward whites in Philadelphia who went to vote.  Their reasoning is that,
Some of my co-workers argued that the law should not be used against black wrongdoers because of the long history of slavery and segregation. Less charitable individuals called it "payback time."
Incredibly, this is being abetted at the highest levels of the department.
Most disturbing, the dismissal is part of a creeping lawlessness infusing our government institutions. Citizens would be shocked to learn about the open and pervasive hostility within the Justice Department to bringing civil rights cases against nonwhite defendants on behalf of white victims. Equal enforcement of justice is not a priority of this administration. Open contempt is voiced for these types of cases...Incredibly, after the case was dismissed, instructions were given that no more cases against racial minorities like the Black Panther case would be brought by the Voting Section.

Refusing to enforce the law equally means some citizens are protected by the law while others are left to be victimized, depending on their race. Core American principles of equality before the law and freedom from racial discrimination are at risk. Hopefully, equal enforcement of the law is still a point of bipartisan, if not universal, agreement. However, after my experience with the New Black Panther dismissal and the attitudes held by officials in the Civil Rights Division, I am beginning to fear the era of agreement over these core American principles has passed.
This administration is setting up a system wherein non-minority voters can...and will be intimidated at the polls.  Our system has worked so well because, by and large, it's reasonably honest.  While there have been irregularities in some cities (Chicago for instance where the dead vote...often), for the most part, it's an honest system.  If it's permitted to be perverted, and enabled by this administration then the rule of law will be set aside and rule by totalitarian means can't be far away.  Is this the way we want our country to function?  I sure don't.  What do you think?

Tommy Roe: Sweet Pea

Here's the girl in the video...

Itsmewithroe

1 day ago Actually, Tommy Roe was lip singing. We could hear the recording, and he was whispering. Even he was strumming his guitar, but it was a quiet strum. We were all told to sing the song along with him. If I had known the camera was on me all that time, I would have been so embarrassed. I thought the camera was on everyone.

1 day ago No. That's not his daughter. the blond in the back, she had a blue & white sailor type 2 piece bathing suit. Tommy Roe had no children. I remember now. It was the summer of 67. I've been talking about that day all my life. I was in ecstasy. I never knew the camera was on me. The producer/director, who ever he was, stage the girls behind me in position. I wonder if I could upload my pictures when I was a kid on this site.

1 day ago I was the little girl. It was the summer of 66 or 67. It was on Santa Monica beach. I was playing on the other side of the pier when my older sister got me. She asked me if I wanted to be in a movie. When she brought me to the other side of the pier, I was asked to sit next to Tommy Roe. My sister was sitting on the other side of him. the other girls were already there behind Roe. At the time, it was the greatest moment in my life. I was only 13, and I felt he was only singing to me.

Blue Eyes

Here's an interesting story:

All blue-eyed humans are descended from one person who lived 6-10,000 years ago.
New research shows that people with blue eyes have a single, common ancestor. A team at the University of Copenhagen have tracked down a genetic mutation which took place 6-10,000 years ago and is the cause of the eye colour of all blue-eyed humans alive on the planet today.

Obama Dissillusionment Setting In...

Victor Davis Hansen has an excellent post on Mr. Obama's Presidency on RealClearPolitics.  In his column, he discusses what happens in the real world to "leaders" who hold themselves up as heroic figures...then fail to measure up to the rediculously high standards they set for themselves.  From the comments on the column comes this:

I wonder how someone with such thin skin would react when seeing the faded Obama bumper stickers, with slogans that seem so silly in retrospect, being removed from the vehicles of embarrassed saps who fell for this empty suit. My liberal parents, who were so eager to talk about Obama until recently, even going so far as to hang a picture of him in the office, now appear a little sheepish when the topic arises. Katrina is no longer remembered as a natural disaster exacerbated by Bush but is instead used as a gauge for the "unconscionable ineptitude" of the great experiment known as Obama. Americans were arrogant to think we could elect "anyone but Bush", without regard for qualifications, and maintain our status in the world (not perceived status by pining, disgruntled Europeans but real status, measured by influence and effectiveness). My parents are hopelessly liberal but they love their country, and I don't think they were quite ready for the postAmerican world Obama has tried to foist upon us. The logic that comes with being liberal politically but stuck in the real world without an ivy league degree or political connections, is beginning to open their eyes. They cannot seem to reconcile between the pretty words that sound so lovely being relayed from the teleprompter and the events happening in the real world. Buyer's remorse? No, it's much stronger than that. My folks, God love 'em, are actually beginning to look deep inside themselves and question their long-held beliefs. Knowing them as well as I do and how closely they have held these beliefs for so long, I sense that there are many more like them who are beginning to acknowledge, if only on a subconscious level, the disconnect between the promises of those pretty words and the dimal, real-world effects of the political philosophy behind them.
This could have been written by any one of my neighbors.  I live just outside of Baltimore (City), MD in a small predominantly Jewish suburb, called Pikesville.  Something like 70% of the vote in my district went for Mr. Obama in the last presidential election.  Obama bumper stickers were  everywhere...but starting last summer, they slowly began to disappear.  One neighbor, who owns a small business, finally admitted that he'd voted against his best interests...having taken the time to see just what was in the America’s Healthy Future Act of 2009, he realized that his very good health care plan, one that his grown children (and now working in the business) thought was very good...failed the test of "If you like your health insurance, you can  keep it" (it's part of the 51% that doesn't measure up to the bill) and that he was going to be kicked into the "government plan," very much against his wishes.

Now, many of these same people have begun to realize that the "Hope & Change" they'd voted for...has turned out to be radically higher taxes, loss of their health insurance, and a period of stagnant growth as well has near 30 year high unemployment...with little hope that this will change in the near term.   Very quietly, they've started moving away from a President and a party that looks to be nothing like the moderate candidate they voted for.

Bestest Financial Overhaul Ever

This bill is a 2000+ page bill...that no one's read, no one understands and no on knows what's really in it.  We won't know what it does until the various agencies with their rule make powers actually implement it.  It won't affect those companies that really need it (Citi Group, Goldman-Sach, Fannie May/Freddie Mac), and will probably in the end run out of business a large number of smaller, local banks instead...

Concentrate on Solutions

Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in this country lately: illegal immigration, BP oil spill, and alligators attacking people in Florida .

Not me. I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It's a win- win situation.

+ Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levies.
+ Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.

Journolist: Propogandizing The Leftist Agenda

The Daily Caller and FishbowlDC published emails by Dave Weigel, the WaPo's "journalist" assigned to cover the conservative movement here in the US.  He was presented as a "centre-right" journalist.  But with the publication of a number emails wherein he says some very hateful things about prominent conservatives, highlights just why he was terminated from that position.

Much has been said on the matter, and I'll leave the deep thinking to others.  But, the simple fact is that Journolist operated just as it's critics claimed it would. It served as a place to secretly coordinate a left-leaning (I'm not being sarcastic) response or presentation of MSM news stories, or to propogandize the leftist agenda, which shows that infact it was what it’s critics charge: A Closed Echo Chamber used to refine what was later presented to the public via “news reporting”.

It will resurface in another form because those people who participated in it don't see that what they were doing was wrong.  So, it will return in another form just as “Townhouse” did as “Journolist”. Using a private forum to coordinate political/journalistic storylines is unethical and comes near to propogandizing.

Valerie Jarret Wants to Publish Booklets To Explain Obama Agenda

Here Comment on the Tea Party Movement...
"It's an anti-government...I mean that's the Tea Party. They really are, um, are, uh, trying to rebel against government at all. And I think that that's...again it's an extreme. It's always easier to scare people and get them angry when they're already scared...and I think that's what the Tea Party is trying to capture."

Milwaukee County Supervisor Doesn't Think Arizona Is A Border State

Peggy West, a Democratic (hey, this is from Wisconsin after all) Milwaukee County Supervisor, during a debate on whether or not to boycott Arizona (the left's knee jerk reaction to all things BOYCOTT!!) had this to say:
"If this was Texas, which is a state that is directly on the border with Mexico, and they were calling for a measure like this saying that they had a major issue with undocumented people flooding their borders, I would have to look twice at this. But this is a state that is a ways removed from the border,"
Ummm...Peggy, Arizona does in deed have a common border with Mexico...do you know how to read a map?

Gee, even an ignorant, racist, right leaning savage (since I support limits on government I must be an ignorant racist, right?) such as I can see that...Arizona does have a common border with Mexico.  Here's the video of Ms West spouting off her ignorance of geography.  You just can't make this stuff up.

Gov Christ Praises Obama on Oil Spill, Then Why Is P'cola Beach Closed

Dear Gov Christ,
In this video, you sing praises of Mr. Obama's handling of the Gulf Oil spill...

but why is Pensacola Beach now closed and why is the federal government planning to evacuate Tampa Bay?  Veteran's Today reports:
As FEMA and other government agencies prepare for what is now being called the worst oil spill disaster in history, plans to evacuate the Tampa Bay area are in place.

The plans would be announed in the event of a controlled burn of surface oil in the Gulf of Mexico, or if wind or other conditions are expected to take toxic fumes through Tampa Bay.

This practice has been used by the US Forestry service, when fire and smoke threaten the health and well being of people.

The elderly and those with respiratory problems would be more susceptible to health risks, in the event of a controlled burn.

Estimates of the rate of BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill have varied. Independent scientists now suggest that the true spill rate, before the riser pipe was cut off in June, was between 20,000 and 50,000 barrels a day.

Since the April 20th explosion, which resulted in the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon rig, there have been more than a million gallons of chemicals poured into the Gulf of Mexico in efforts to break up the spill. The chemicals have come under scrutiny because of their own toxic nature.

It is not certain if the massive slick will have to be set on fire near Tampa Bay, but the possibility has not been ruled out.
Don't you think it's a little past time to depend upon Uncle Sugar/Barack Obama to get you elected to the US Senate?  Perhaps you might want to do what YOU CAN DO as governor  of one of the wealthier states and start laying oil booms and building sand berms, since the Fed can't seem to do either.  Charlie, do the job the people elected you to do, not the one you want now...

Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion: Bumper Sticker of Change

Here's another great bumper sticker from Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion: Bumper Sticker of Change

The Best Bumper Sticker Ever

Why the apology?

I don't know who wrote the following, I've seen it once or twice over the past 18 months...

At a time when our president and other politicians tend to apologize for our country's prior actions, here's a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country.

These are good

JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.

Rusk responded, "Does that include those who are buried here?"

DeGaulle did not respond.

You could have heard a pin drop.

When in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of 'empire building' by George Bush. He answered by saying, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return."

You could have heard a pin drop

There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intend to do, bomb them?"

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?"

You could have heard a pin drop.

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries.

Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?"

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German."

You could have heard a pin drop.

AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...

Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.

"You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically.
Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.
"Then you should know enough to have your passport ready."
The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."
"Impossible.. Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France !"
The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to."

You could have heard a pin drop.
America is to date, the single greatest nation in history.  We have our flaws and in the past we've done things wrong, but until this century, politics ended at the coast-line.  It didn't matter what you believed, politically, you defended this country because you are an American.  In the past 10 years, far too many Americans have forgotten that concept...and bashed our country beyond our shores.  We have spent the past 93 years bailing out the rest of the world from the messes they have created.

MoveOn.org Airbrushes Out The Betray Us Ad

MoveOn.org, the leftwing political organization has airbrushed away the General Betray Us advertisement from it's website.  This is rather amusing...it's not like no one remembers it.  Not is it unavailable on the web.  It's amusing because this organization received special advertisement rates to run in in the NY Times...

Now, with General Petreus' appointment to replace the hapless McChrystal in Afghanistan, Gen. P is now the darling of the left...and it's no longer kosher to insult him...

In case you've missed it here's the ad:

But as always, the left's hypocrisy is on display now...it's conveniently forgotten that Mr. Obama, Mrs. Clinton, et al, slammed General P during the Senate hearings...but now we're to suspend our disbelief that that vilifying episode ever happened.

UPDATE:  The Anchoress has some interesting points to make and links to others as well:
They are very busy bees. Over at Ann Althouse’s site, one comment began the arduous work of re-writing history on the internet with this forehead-slapper:

The same guy who the right wing dubbed “General Betrayus”…that same guy. I do wish I was born with the short life memories possessed by the neuvo-recht.
Then there's this link to the Chicago Sun-Times story that shows Obama chose not to vote (or voted present) on the bill introduced by Sen John Cornyn (R-TX) condeming Movone.org...imagine that, the state senator who voted present over 100 times in the IL senate, chose not to vote in the US Senate...

Over at Hotair.com they have some interesting things to say, but they had this video of Mr. Obama questioning Gen P in 2007...

If the Senate passes the House Cap & Trade bill, it will add at least $1,700.00 per year in taxes to each household.  This by the administration that promised NOT to raise taxes on the middle class.  That's an increase of 15% on personal income taxes.  Furthermore, it will have the added effect of tripling the cost of electrical bills for every household as well.  That will literally cause millions of homes to go  dark...in a very short time.

If the Democratically controlled Congress is stupid enough to do this, they will be tossing this country off the economic cliff.  I personally, can't afford to pay either the tax, or  the increased cost of  electricity as my wife and I can barely afford to pay our bills as it is now.  With a massive increase, we'll have to live in the dark...along with millions of others...does the Democratic party have any idea of the abyss they are about to leap into?

In Russia, in 1917, something similar happened while in the midst of the First World War...the government no longer had the ability to deliver food or electricity to the cities...and the country rose up in revolt.  I'm terrified that something similar would happen here...if the lights go out for millions of people because they couldn't afford to pay the bill.

If the country avoids erupting into chaos, the election of 2012 will make this November's tidal wave...look like a ripple in the bay.
The Senate class up for reelection in 2012 is the one elected in 2006, which was a disastrous year for Republicans. If I am not mistaken, there are 23 Democratic seats at stake against only 9 Republicans. Any Democrat who votes for a lame-duck bill like cap-’n'-tax against the public will is almost certain to be challenged and beat about the head and shoulders with that vote, not to mention health care.

In the House, the Democratic survivors will be mostly safe for 2012, having been elected against the tide this year, but the Senators will be facing an electorate which hasn’t had a chance to register its frustration, and many of the Democrats will be freshman Senators – statistically, the most vulnerable of Senate incumbents
As  it is...having a lame duck Congress with nothing to lose...politically (this year at least) could prove to be very dangerous...

Now, if eletricity costs much more to buy...won't that make pretty much everything else much more expensive?  Yes indeed, it will cause a run of inflation that will raise the costs of everything...and I mean everything...but I don't think those in Congress truly understand the basic economics that are involved here.  If it costs more to produce an item, if it costs more to ship and item to market, the producer will pass those costs onto the consumer by inflating the price to cover the cost of the production and shipping...thus things will cost more...simple?  Yes it is, but the Democratic leadership in Congress just don't get it.  Of course, when you're independently wealthy (as are the vast majority of Congressmen and Senators), it's very easy to be liberal, after all, when your disposable income is 5-10 times the national average higher taxes just don't  gouge you as  heavily as those who...aren't fortunate to earn as much.

In a weakened economy as ours, purposely piling on new taxes and higher costs is imbecilic at best, and criminally stupid at worst, this bill won't create "green jobs" (look at Spain's idiotic subsidised $800,000.00 cost per "green job"), but it will drive jobs overseas at a much faster rate than is the case now.  This bill will kill the economy and drive the country into a true depression...just to  satisfy a minute portion of the Democratic base.

Fly On Obama

Flies know crap when they hear it...really they do.  Here's a great example:

(photo AP/Carolyn Kaster)

He's been spouting crap for 3 years now...it just took a while for flies to catch on.  This one landed while he was lauding the "Affordable Care Act and the New Patients Bill of Rights, Tuesday, June 22, 2010, in the East Room of the White House."  I suppose there's hope the media will catch on eventually now.

Audacity of Golf

The Obama administration has had the temerity to criticize the CEO of BP...for going to a yacht race...while playing golf, then going to a Washington national's game...because he cares...

Maryland Police State Pt 2

In Maryland, you don't have the right to protect yourself from the police.   Commentary Magazine, has  an excellent article on this topic....but  more importantly, you don't have the right to record the police on video when they violate your rights...think about that.  In Maryland you don't have the right to due process...it's the police's "word" against yours.  Without video tape/recording, who's word do you think a jury will accept?  Yours?  don't bet on it
On Saturday, Yvonne Nicole Shaw, 27, was arrested by sheriff's deputies in Lexington Park, Maryland. According to the Southern Maryland News, Shaw was cuffed and booked for recording deputies who had come to an apartment complex in response to a noise complaint. Sheriff's Cpl. Patrick Handy's report explained that Shaw was standing about 12 feet from him, and that Shaw "did admit to recording our encounter on her cell phone for the purpose of trying to show the police are harassing people."

This is after Anthony Graber was arrested for recording a police office (who was OFF DUTY AT THE TIME) with a helmet camera...admittedly Mr. Graber was being monumentally stupid for popping "wheelies" while exceeding the 75 mph speed limit...but still, having a pistol drawn by an off-duty cop, who doesn't show a badge is a rather harrowing experience.  One that I wouldn't wish to experience.

But here in the People's Republic of Maryland, you don't have the right to video the police while they violate your rights...Just go to the Preakness, if you piss off the cops...they'll use whatever force they think is necessary to subdue you...then arrest the guy who video's it...

Here's the money quote:
"Do me a favor and turn that off. It's illegal to record anybody's voice or anything else in the state of Maryland."
It's not true, but that's the position of the police in this state.  You don't have the right to take video of them while they violate your rights...so much for the right of due process...much the less the 1st amendment...
No one expects what they say to a cop during a traffic stop to be private. But consider how this affects the way Maryland cops and prosecutors are interpreting the law: When a cop pulls you over or detains you for questioning, he—the public servant with the badge and the gun—retains a right to privacy for the entire encounter. You don't.

Of course, it's OK for the Police  to beat the shit out of you...but you're violating "their civil rights to video them while they beat you up."

G-d forbid that you should do so...
Maryland law enforcement officials were nationally embarrassed by the videotaped beating of Jack McKenna. McKenna, a student at the University of Maryland, was given an unprovoked beating by police during student celebrations after a basketball game last February. McKenna would probably still be facing criminal charges and the cops who beat him would likely still be on the beat were it not for several cell phone videos that captured his beating.
This is what happens in the People's Republic of Maryland if you have the balls to challenge the police with their brutal tactics...you go to jail and have to spend your hard savings to prove you are innocent...because in the People's Republic of Maryland, you are guilty until...someone comes up with video evidence showing you're innocent...which makes them guilty...

The FCC wants to "save" journalism, except that journalistswho aren't part of the government's propaganda machine won't be protected...so much for freedom...of anything.

This country was founded on the basic idea that anyone with a printing press was a journalist...now that EVERYONE has one...means that only those whom the government recognizes...is permitted to...publish, either video or printed words...

Is Socialism Evil?

The great science fiction writer, Jerry Pournelle has an excellent blog posting on socialism.  I try to link to writers/blogs who say something with more elloquence than I...so here's what I think is his money quote:
I do believe that socialism is entirely antithetical to the Constitution of 1789 as Amended. For a very long time the Supreme Court of the United States believed that as well. Now the Court is divided on the subject. A majority of the Congress is held by a party that doesn't purport to believe in socialism, but which elects a leadership that enacts laws based on the socialist philosophy. Government ought to take care of people. Government should spread the wealth around. You are entitled to benefits not because of your virtues, and the wealthy are obligated to pay for your entitlements. It's their duty and your right.

Is it malice to believe that? I would say a great many of the academics in these United States believe it, and many more do not dare dispute it because those who do believe it make it dangerous for anyone in academia to dispute the consensus. Are they all malicious? They certainly believe that those who oppose them are malicious.

And of course it's not all that clear cut to begin with. Most of those who voted for Obama didn't believe that he believed all the tenets of academic Liberal Socialist Democracy. Are all those who voted for him malicious? Is it malice to be seduced into hoping that Hope and Change were real, especially given the past history of the Creeps who were in charge?
Liberal Socialism is wrongheaded. I think its end results are terrible. It's also seductive. Most Liberals I know believe they have good intentions, and that so long as they have good intentions they cannot be called malicious or evil.

I believe that the upcoming election is the most important election in decades, and that its effects will be felt for decades to come. What's at stake are the very principles of this nation. Surely that's clear enough? Clearly I believe that those who voted in this government were mistaken. I want those people back on our side.
While I do think that society as a whole has an obligation to take care of those who are unable to do so for themselves, I do not believe that I have the obligation to take care of those who are too lazy to do so.  I have worked hard all of my life and I have never taken from the public trough.  When I've needed assistance of any sort, I has sought such from charities.  It's not government's place to provide me with a "living".  All government should do, is secure the borders (ours REFUSES TO DO SO) and to "provide for the common defense," ensure that busisness remains honest, and to collect enough taxes to ensure the above...not to provide for those who refuse to work.

In America, we have a number of rights...but what we don't have as a basic right, it to take from those who work, and give to those who refuse to do so...

Fireman's Revenge

I have to admit, I get really annoyed by those who park their cars...in places they don't belong.  But you don't get to see them actually pay for it.  Here in Maryland, often times I see cars parked in fire lanes...cars that don't pull over for fire trucks...or even ambulances.  So to see someone punished, in a most direct way, with their license plate not obscured is great.

WALK NAKED IN AMERICA DAY

Don't forget to mark your calendars.

As you may already know, it is a sin for a Muslim male to see any woman other than his wife naked and if he does, he must commit suicide. So next Saturday at 1 PM Eastern Time, all American women are asked to walk out of their house completely naked to help weed out any neighborhood terrorists.

Circling your block for one hour is recommended for this anti-terrorist effort.

All patriotic men are to position themselves in lawn chairs in front of their houses to demonstrate their support for the women and to prove that they are not Muslim terrorist sympathizers. Since Islam also does not approve of alcohol, a cold 6-pack at your side is further proof of your patriotism.

The American government appreciates your efforts to root out terrorists and applauds your participation in this anti-terrorist activity.

God bless America !

P.S.. It is your patriotic duty to inform others. If you don't send this to at least 1 person, you're a terrorist-sympathizing, lily-livered coward and are possibly aiding and abetting terrorists.

*The Jews don't hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics, or blow themselves up in German restaurants. There is NOT one single Jew that has destroyed a church. There is NOT a single Jew that protests by killing people.
*The Jews don't traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.
*Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.

How To Sell Toothbrushes...Government Style

From a reader:
The kids filed back into class Monday morning. They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on productive salesmanship.

Little Sally led off: "I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30," she said proudly, "My sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success."
"Very good," said the teacher.
Little Jenny was next:
"I sold magazines," she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events."
"Very good, Jenny," said the teacher..
Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn.
The teacher held her breath ...
Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467," he said.
"$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling"
"Toothbrushes," said Little Johnny.
"Toothbrushes," echoed the teacher,
"How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?"
"I found the busiest corner in town," said Little Johnny, "I set up a Dip &
Chip stand, I gave everybody who walked by a free sample."
They all said the same thing, "Hey, this tastes like dog shit!"
Then I would say,"It is dog shit. Wanna buy a toothbrush?"
"I used the governmental approach of giving you something shitty that they say is good, and then making you pay to get the shitty taste out of your mouth."

The teacher was speechless. . . . . . . .
This is the method that government uses to sell it's "products" and if you take a close look at "health care reform"...this is how Mr. Obama is selling this, Cap & Trade and Immigration "reform"...

3 Reasons The FCC Shouldn't "Touch" The Internets

The FCC is preparing to fundamentally change how the internet operates in this country.  If Congress passes a bill currently under consideration, the FCC is on the verge of installing an  "interrupt button" that will enable the President in "national emergency" situations to turn off the internet...just as is done in totalitarian countries like Iran, China, Saudia Arabia and Venezuelia...think about it...

A New video from OK GO

The World Sees Obama As Incopmetent

Mort Zuckerman, the editor of US News and World Report has an excellent column on the world's view of Mr. Obama.  In that column he makes the point the much of the world sees Mr. Obama as being weak willed and naive.  That's fatal in the leader of the world's leading commercial and military power.

Mr. Zuckerman correctly points out that when the President of France criticizes an American President as not being forceful enough, there's a huge problem. All emphasis is mine:
French President Nicolas Sarkozy openly criticized Obama for months, including a direct attack on his policies at the United Nations. Sarkozy cited the need to recognize the real world, not the virtual world, a clear reference to Obama's speech on nuclear weapons. When the French president is seen as tougher than the American president, you have to know that something is awry. Vladimir Putin of Russia has publicly scorned a number of Obama's visions.
But his best and most devasting comment is this,
America right now appears to be unreliable to traditional friends, compliant to rivals, and weak to enemies. One renowned Asian leader stated recently at a private dinner in the United States, "We in Asia are convinced that Obama is not strong enough to confront his opponents, but we fear that he is not strong enough to support his friends."

Much of what is now unfolding could have been avoided had the media only followed the unwritten mandate of the fourth estate, that of properly vetting presidential candidates BEFORE elections...doing so afterwards is far too late.  Here's my comment from the comment's section
If you had taken the time to do some basic research, research that the MSM had, and continues to refuse to do, you would have seen a man of very little experience. America, historically prefers to have state governors as a stepping stone to the presidency because having run a state, gives a candidate important exective experience...something both Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain lacked.

Mr. Obama has never had to meet a payroll, nor has he ever had to remain within a budget...household budget notwithstanding. Looking at what he has said in the past 20 years. Looking at what he has written in the past 20 years would have given a sharply defined glimpse within the carefully maintained shroud of secrecy that he and his coterie have erected. His earliest mentor, Frank Marshall Davis was a member of the Chicago area communist party "organizer" who was sent to Hawaii to work. "The 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member."

His attendance at a radical church for twenty years, whose senior pastor, Jeremiah Wright, continually rants on racists and anti-semitic topics, was shrugged off. His political career was started in the living room of an American terrorist, who wasn't prosecuted due to police incompetence and was released on a techinicality...

All of these should have rung alarums throughout the media...but were quietly ignored by the media who was in love with the idea of electing "the First Black President" of the US. This same media has only just begun to realize the huge mistake they have made...hence the beginnings of the muted rumblings heard in the distance.

Mr. Obama is a Chicago machine politician, and they way he pursues policy, against the wishes of the public at large (see the passage of the "Health Care 'Reform'" bill, written and negotiated behind closed doors...along with painting anyone who opposes him and his policies as "racists" has angered a majority of the public. Look at his polls as they continue to slide, just as Mr. Carter's did in the last 2 yars of his presidency...but this is the FIRST two years of this president's tenure.

All of this will come to haunt the Democratic Party this fall...I believe that we will see a historic tidal wave against this party and president. At least 80 seats will change hands in the House and as many as 11 in the Senate. Because this President hasn't a clue nor do his closest advisors.
My most important  comment though is found in the title "Jimmy Cart Redux Is the Best We Can Hope For At This Point."  Unfortunately, we're well past that point.  We have a president who is seen as both weak and ineffectual internationally.  His standing at home is falling faster than any of his predecessors has, and his ramming through his economically crippling domestic agenda will have the effect of permanetly diminishing the ability of America to recover from what should have been a relatively short recession.

What Really Happened

Here's an excellent article about the Middle East and Isreal...as Professor Reynolds says...READ THE WHOLE THING!

ObamaCare:the Future of Health Care in America

Westby G. Fisher, MD, FACC is a board certified internist, cardiologist, and cardiac electrophysiologist, in Evanston Illinois, writes in a moving article on the future of health care in America
...practices will downsize their nicest employees or close all together. Many others will speed up their flight to be bought by big hospital systems - but these hospital systems will be more selective when deciding who they admit to their ranks...Fortunately, if you're below 65, you'll see the effects a bit later. But if you're over 65, better tap into your savings a bit, so you can pay to have a doctor.

That's just the way it's going to be.
READ THE WHOLE THING!!!!!  In particular, read the comments from physicians...

Democrats: The Sky Is Falling

In a major development on the liberal left, William Galston says that Stan Greenberg, an important left-wing pollster is predicting that at least 70 "battleground" Congressional Districts will go to the GOP this fall.  Mr. Greenburg's  analysis  has to be the most discouraging poll Democrats have seen in this election cycle.
He surveyed 1,200 likely voters in the 60 most competitive Democrat-held districts and ten most competitive Republican-held districts. In Tier 1 (the 30 most vulnerable Democratic districts), Democrats trailed by 48 to 39 overall. In Tier 2 (the 30 next most vulnerable districts), they trailed by 47 to 45. And in the contestable Republican districts, they trailed 53 to 39.

Here's a money quote from Galston:
Earth to House Democrats: It’s time to push the panic button. But don’t take my word for it; consider the evidence...It’s too late to enact legislation that will actually affect the economy’s performance between now and November, but it may not be too late for Democrats to better align their agenda with the public’s economic concerns. And they could get lucky: The four remaining employment reports between now and the election might show accelerating job creation in the private sector and a more rapid decline in unemployment than we have seen thus far. That would give embattled incumbents the chance to argue—more credibly than they can now—that we’re on the right track and shouldn’t turn back.

From what I've seen in the past year, I think that a 70 seat gain in the House is, perhaps, conservative...

Democrats Vote Down 5 Percent Rule

Democrats Vote Down 5 Percent Rule

In a bid to stem taxpayer losses for bad loans guaranteed by federal housing agencies Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn) proposed that borrowers be required to make a 5% down payment in order to qualify. His proposal was rejected 57-42 on a party-line vote because, as Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) explained, “passage of such a requirement would restrict home ownership to only those who can afford it.”
This is the bullshit that caused the financial crisis in 2008...by giving home loans to people who literally couldn't afford to pay the loans, Congress, in the form of Senators Chris Dodd (CT-D), Charles Schumer (NY-D) and Congressman Barney Frank (MA-D) directly caused the meltdown of credit in the United States.  Yet none of these fine gentlemen have been held accountable for this mess.

Sex With An Illegal Immigrant: A Joke

This was sent to me by a friend...it makes so damn much sense, I hadda post it:

SEX WITH AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT

An illegal immigrant picks up a hooker.  "Hey, how much you charge for da hour, sister?" he asks.
"$100," she replies.
In broken English, he says, "Do you do immigrant style?"
"No" she says.
"I pay you $200 to do immigrant style."
"No," she says, not knowing what immigrant style is.
"I pay you $300."
"No," she says.
"I pay you $400."
"No," she says.
So finally he says, "OK, I pay $1,000 to do immigrant style."
She thinks, "Well, I've been in the game for over 10 years now. I've had every kind of request from weirdo's from every part of the world. How bad could immigrant style be?"
So she agrees and has sex with him. Finally, after several hours, they finish. Exhausted, the hooker turns to him and says, "Hey, I was expecting something perverted and disgusting. But that was good. So, what exactly is immigrant style?"

The illegal immigrant replies, "You send bill to Government."

Oklahoma Is OK

From another reader:

An update from Oklahoma:

Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol.   The Feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake.  HB 1330  Guess what ... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Oklahoma also passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen.

They all scattered. HB 1804. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.  Guess what ... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Recently they passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegals to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Pelosi said it was unconstitutional. SB 1102.  Guess what ... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Several weeks ago, they passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas, Montana and Utah are the only states to do so. More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama , Georgia , the Carolina 's, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi and Florida . Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. HJR 1003.

The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Oklahoma, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles. I'm sure that was a set back for the criminals (and Obamaites). Liberals didn't like it -- But ...Guess what ... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Just this month, the state has voted and passed a law that ALL driver's license exams will be printed in English, and only English, and no other language. They have been called racist for doing this, but the fact is that ALL of the road signs are in English only. If you want to drive in Oklahoma , you must read and write English. Really simple.   By the way, Obama does not like any of this.

Guess what ... who cares ... Oklahoma is doing it anyway.
Just when you think that "States Rights" is dead...it wakes up and tells the Fed to take a flying leap...

This 19 year old ex-cheerleader (now an Air Force Security Forces Sniper) was watching a road that led to a NATO military base when she observed a man digging by the road. She engaged the target  (i.e. , she shot him). It turned out he was a bomb maker for the Taliban, and he was burying an IED that was to be etonated when a US patrol walked by 30 minutes later. It would have certainly killed and wounded several soldiers.

The interesting fact of this story is the shot was measured at 725 yards. She shot him as he was bent over burying the bomb. The shot went through his butt and into the bomb which detonated; he was blown to pieces. The Air Force made a motivational poster of her:
Now there's a real girl...thanks Sandi!

Impeach Obama?

Rudy Guilianni has an interesting point here via the Blogprof:

He also points out the biased coverage inherent by the MSM.

Here he is on Fox News:

Rudy makes an interesting point here:  Obama has appointed 50 Czars, 12 commissions...but still hasn't done much about anything...all talk and no action or leadership.
