If this is the law of the land...why in a republic (little r) and as republicans, do we allow mere POLITICIANS to the right to use a "title of office" for the rest of their lives as if it were de facto a patent of nobility. Because, as republicans, this should NOT be the case...just saying...

9-11: A Video Memorial

via Instapundit:

Questions On Saudi Government Involvement on 911

Investors Business Daily asks some VERY pertinent questions on the involvement of the Saudi Arabian government in the hijackings of 911.
  • Why was the section of Congress' Joint Inquiry into 9/11 dealing with "sources of foreign support for some of the Sept. 11 hijackers" kept secret from the public on the orders of President Bush?
  • Almost 27 full pages were blanked out — an amount equal to the entire U.S. Constitution. The section, which remains sealed, reportedly quotes from a CIA memo that concludes there's "incontrovertible evidence" that Saudi government officials supported the hijackers. Why the cover-up?
  • And why were the first two hijackers who entered the country received by a Saudi government agent who secured and paid for their housing and arranged flight lessons? Was he acting on his own, or on official orders? Was he, as some investigators suspect, part of an advance team sent by the Saudi consulate to meet the hijackers as they arrived in Los Angeles?
  • Was it coincidence or something more that the Saudi agent's salary was increased while settling the hijackers in San Diego? Or that he was able to tap into a $130,000 "welfare" account funded by the kingdom's ambassador to the U.S.? Was money funneled through official Saudi channels to the hijackers?
  • Was another Saudi agent from New Jersey, who handled the hijackers on the East Coast, also tasked by the Saudi government?
  • Who ordered the massive post-9/11 evacuation of Saudi VIPs — including two dozen bin Ladens, at least one of whom had an open terror file at the FBI — without proper investigations? Why was such a request granted, given the Saudi nationality of 15 hijackers?
  • Did Saudi envoy Prince Bandar make the request while he and Bush shared cigars on the Truman Balcony of the White House on Sept. 13, 2001? Did Bush's father or James Baker, who on Sept. 10 had attended a Carlyle Group conference in Washington with bin Laden's brother, intervene? What about Bandar's old racquetball partner Secretary of State Colin Powell, whose wife once received a Jaguar as a Bandar gift?
  • Similarly, why was the Saudi minister of mosques allowed to escape interrogation after feigning a heart attack when FBI agents learned he'd left his Washington hotel to check into the same budget hotel near Dulles airport as the hijackers the night before they attacked the Pentagon?
  • Why was an arrest warrant for the hijackers' confidante, Anwar Awlaki — who'd worked for the Saudi Embassy as a lecturer and hajj tour guide — suddenly pulled back the day before he re-entered the U.S. on a Saudi airliner? Why was this dangerous al-Qaida recruiter allowed to leave the country for good?
  • Why was the Pentagon attack staged out of a mosque built by the Saudi Embassy? The fax number to the D.C. mosque, where Awlaki preached and the hijackers worshiped, turned up in a key 9/11 planner's German flat.
Why has the government kept this information secret?  These questions are very pertinent to the Long War, or Great War on Terror.  They are, at the very least troubling to those of us who have never seen them before.  I think we need to get some answers NOW.

Just what connection does the Saudi government have here?  Mr. Obama, at the very least, you owe us answers.  Mr. Bush, if you have concealed the involvement of another government on acts of war against this country, you have questions to be answered as well.

10 Years Later

I started the best job I've ever had on September 10, 2001. I was working as an apprentice for a master furniture maker named Larry Crossan. He has a small cabinet shop, L W Crossan, Cabinetmaker in southeastern Pennsylvania outside of a town called Lyndell.  His shop is in an early 18th century barn on some property that Jim Croce used to own.  It's the only job I've ever looked forward to every single day...because I learned something new every day.

On Tuesday, listening to NPR, we heard that a plane had struck the WTC.  My first thought was what was the weather like in NYC?  During WW2, a B25 bomber hit the Empire State Building in a rainy, overcast day...and I figured that this was something like that.

Obviously that wasn't the case. What enraged me though were videos like this one from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Then we have a hand-wringing appologist named David Cole, who wants the Obama administration to pursue war crimes charges against Bush administration officials.  Personally, my belief is that if you're caught outside of the US, waging a terrorist war against America, you can be held for the rest of your life.  You don't have priviledges of the protections of the US Constitution, nor do you have the protections of the Geneva Conventions.  But I digress.

This Long War we're involved in is a conflict between civilizations.  One, based upon a religion begun in the Dark Ages, that seeks to keep women and Kafirs in the chains of slavery, and the other that believes in openness and freedom.  It's a clash of cultures, that will take decades to defeat.  We CAN win, but only if we don't lose eithe interest, or courage.

To Whom Does The Land of Israel Belong?

I've seen this around the web.  Not sure who wrote it...
An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the United Nations assembly, and made the world community smile.  A representative from Israel began,"Before beginning my talk, I want to tell you something about Moses . . .

When he struck the rock, and it brought forth water, he thought, "What a good opportunity to have a bath!" Moses removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock, and entered the water.  When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Palestinian had stolen them!

The Palestinian representative at the UN jumped up furiously, and shouted, "What are you talking about? The Palestinians weren't there then."

The Israeli representative smiled and said, "And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech . . . "

The Team Who Got bin Laden

Here's a picture of the team, according to Mr. Obama's speech on the subject, who "got Osama bin Laden."

Dr Strangebarry...

What we'll face once Iran has the bomb...which will happen within the next year.  Thanks for being firm Barry.

But more tellingly, here is what candidate Obama had to say about missile defense (remember he sold out the Poles, Czechs and eastern European allies to Putin for "help" with preventing Iran gaining a nuclear weapon...which they haven't and won't deliver upon) while he was still campaigning.

Now that terrorist, or specifically Al Quieda aquiring a nuclear weapon is more and more likely, we have the NY Times teaching all about what to do in a nuclear blast.
The advice is based on recent scientific analyses showing that a nuclear attack is much more survivable if you immediately shield yourself from the lethal radiation that follows a blast, a simple tactic seen as saving hundreds of thousands of lives. Even staying in a car, the studies show, would reduce casualties by more than 50 percent; hunkering down in a basement would be better by far.

But a problem for the Obama administration is how to spread the word without seeming alarmist about a subject that few politicians care to consider, let alone discuss. So officials are proceeding gingerly in a campaign to educate the public.

“We have to get past the mental block that says it’s too terrible to think about,” W. Craig Fugate, administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, said in an interview. “We have to be ready to deal with it” and help people learn how to “best protect themselves."

Officials say they are moving aggressively to conduct drills, prepare communication guides and raise awareness among emergency planners of how to educate the public.
An InstaPundit reader says this...but Glenn has a plethora of links as well...
Regarding your post on government recommendations for nuclear survival:

I am quite impressed to see anyone on the left actually studying and contemplating how best to handle a disaster and how best to release this valuable information.

It wasn’t too many years ago the newly formed Department of Homeland Security under then Secretary Ridge released a memo that stated how best to handle a disaster. That memo had numerous items listed included important things like keeping water and food supplies sufficient for at least 72 hours since that was the earliest you should expect help from the Federal Government.

Unfortunately that memo also included the, very accurate and potentially life saving I might add, information about keeping duct tape and plastic on hand (which online also referenced nuclear fallout I think)

It was pilloried by those on the left and it became the joke of the year. Everyone from Senator Reid to most liberal Congressmen and The Daily Show on down to Letterman and Leno ripped into this recommendation for days if not weeks. Oh they had some fun.

Unfortunately instead of helping to improve and support public safety and responsibility they chose to make political points.

A year and a half later Katrina hit. Hardly anyone in the primarily liberal districts hardest hit had ever heard the first 10 or so items on that list (if I recall it was 15 or so). They certainly didn’t have food or water stocks and how were they to know help would take at least 72 hours! If only the Government had let them know!!! Wait, they did but the left chose politics rather then reinforce the factual information in that memo. Lives could have been saved.

So to see Democrats putting public safety over scoring political points is quite a pleasant (if not a little tardy and a bit hypocritical) surprise.
As the blogfather is want to say...read the whole thing.
