Illegal is a crime, not a race.

Open border, anti-American advocates, by their own admission, have profiled the very ones they claim to defend. By defying our immigration laws, they are also denying the civil and human rights of Americans as they insidiously claim to be fighting for a race and not against the crime itself. Their Marxist techniques of control and exclusion, with promises never to be kept, speak only of a plantation mentality meant to enslave those they claim to represent.

So who is it they defend? Who are these people? Where are they coming from? And what is their mission? Who are MECHA, LaRaza, LULAC, MAPA, Humane Borders, Border Angels? They are the ones that yell obscenities and torment anyone who dares to challenge their agenda. However, they are willing to call anyone a racist who makes that challenge. We can not fear their venom. Our cultural tendency to be polite and politically correct must not apply to their evil.

"Go home Yankees; this is our land".... "We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us. "Si se Puede ". Words of hate and much more. We Americans have purged racism from our lands with thoughtful cooperation, only now to be confronted with vicious, racist hate from aliens, foreign criminals, and those who lead them.

Their open border rhetoric is their attempt to disillusion and intimidate Americans..... We will no longer be intimidated by those using boisterous techniques in order to avoid the truth. Their vociferous language, tactics, and strategies are clearly signs of an undeclared war against our nation. It is not domestic violence by any means; this is an outright, well thought out method of declaring war without rousing suspicion within a complacent nation.

Innocent, indeed, is a country that allows a melting pot to become an inferno of hate. We who believe in America and the values of a traditional American family, regardless of color of skin or religion, have united and will not only challenge these sinister 5th column agents but disarm them and hold them accountable for their actions. We understand that the melting pot is, in reality, a rather good stew. The end result is excellent, with each ingredient retaining a bit of its own identity while it makes its contribution to the final result. There is no room for hateful seasoning.

These groups and their insipid cause are an insult to the many Hispanic heroes who have received America's highest honor, the Medal of Honor, while in service to the United States, starting with John Ortega in 1864. E.Gomez, Legion of Valor and Navy Cross recipient, served with us on the southern border in support of Border Patrol efforts and died during that service. As a Marine veteran, I have learned their lessons and honor their service, but I can no longer glow with pride when asked of my Mexican roots. I simply cringe with shame, and yell out, " I am an American ".....

Mexico's "Fair" Treatment of Illegal Immigrants

Mexico's President, has slammed Arizona for it's recent law on illegal immigration...that's from a country that has far harsher laws than we do here.  Here are a few of their regulations: 

• An illegal immigrant who sneaks into the country, or fails to file his papers, will face fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three.
• An illegal immigrant who forges his documents, or falsifies them by lying when he fills them out, will face fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three.
• An illegal immigrant who takes a job faces fines, up to six years in prison, and deportation.
• All immigrants must provide proof of their legal status if the authorities demand it. Failure to do so will result, once more, in fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three

But of course...they'd never ever do as we here do...

While Mexico's President is lecturing us on our illegal immigration problem, which his country created in the first place with it's endemic political corruption, Mexican Drug Cartels have  begun to invade American territory...something the Obama Administration isn't  prepared to do anything about.  But that asside, this is a frightening development that we need to crush immediately.

I have posted many times before that I am strongly in favor of securing our southern border. But here are some pictures from the Sonoran Desert...one of the most beautiful places on earth. Much of it is protected land that is extremely fragile. Here are some photographs that show the damage that illegal immigrants and the "coyotes" that bring them north from Mexico are doing to this land mark.

This is just one small corner of the border region in Arizona...and is a large reason why Arizona Legislature decided to act...because the Federal Government has abdicated its responsiblity by systematically ignoring this huge problem.  The damage being done to the environment is incalculable. 

The only way to prevent this is to build a secure, sustainable border barrier.  It has already been shown that illegals are avoiding those portions of the barrier/fence that has been constructed to date.  By finishing the fence, we can then begin work on a sustainable "guest worker program."

Los Angeles To Boycott Arizona Products

The Los Angeles City Commission has voted, with the support of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.  This means that the city is no longer permitted to purchase products produced in Arizona.  Unfortunately, the dolts on the LA city commission didn't think about was they get 25% of their electricity from Arizona.  Now, one of the
commissioners for the state utility regulation commission who is chosen in state-wide elections, Gary Pierce, has sent the following letter to the City of Los Angeles: 

Dear Mayor Villaraigosa,


I was dismayed to learn that the Los Angeles City Council voted to boycott Arizona and Arizona-based companies — a vote you strongly supported — to show opposition to SB 1070 (Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act).

You explained your support of the boycott as follows: “While we recognize that as neighbors, we share resources and ties with the State of Arizona that may be difficult to sever, our goal is not to hurt the local economy of Los Angeles, but to impact the economy of Arizona. Our intent is to use our dollars — or the withholding of our dollars — to send a message.” (emphasis added)

I received your message; please receive mine. As a state-wide elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission overseeing Arizona’s electric and water utilities, I too am keenly aware of the “resources and ties” we share with the City of Los Angeles. In fact, approximately twenty-five percent of the electricity consumed in Los Angeles is generated by power plants in Arizona.

If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation. I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands. If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy.

People of goodwill can disagree over the merits of SB 1070. A state-wide economic boycott of Arizona is not a message sent in goodwill.

Personally, I'd love to see Arizona power companies cut off LA...there are incipient power shortages in California as it is...just how happy will the people be when they are hot, and in the dark, because their local political leaders decided to make a stupid point, that California law already mandates their own police do.  But what is really amusing about the whole thing, is that California Penal Code requires police in the State of California to do EXACTLY THE SAME THINGS AS THE ARIZONA LAW!  Here is the pertinent excerpt of Section 834b in the California Penal Code

(a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws. (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following: (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status. (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States. (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity. (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited.

So is Los Angeles going to boycott the state of California for impinging upon the (non)rights of illegal aliens?

NOW, Napolitano Admits NOT Reading AZ Law Before Criticizing It

First we had Attorney General Eric Holder lambasting the Arizona law requiring police officers to check immigration status of those whom they detain for offenses.  But  now, Janet Napolitano, Secretary of (the misnamed) Department of Homeland (in)Security has admitted that she's not read the law either.

Just what is it with this ruling Democratic Party.  First they couldn't be bothered to read TARP (which was deeply laden with pork and 2000 pages long), the Cap & Trade Bill (3000 pages long) or the America’s Healthy Future Act of 2009 (government seizure of health care system 2300 pages long) bill.  Now they can't be bother to read a bill passed overwhealmingly by the Arizona Legislature...and is a mere 10 pages long.  Here is video of Ms. Napolitano admitting as much in a Senate Hearing.  Her comments were,

under questioning by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., during a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing on the BP oil spill response.


"I have not reviewed it in detail. I certainly know of it," the former Arizona governor said when asked by McCain whether she had a chance to give the language a close look.

Nevertheless, Napolitano said, "That's not the kind of law I would have signed." Napolitano explained that she dealt with "laws of that ilk" in Arizona before and that most law enforcement groups were opposed to them.

"It's a bad law enforcement law," she said. "I believe it mandates and requires local law enforcement or puts them into a position many do not want to be placed in."


But McCain pressed Napolitano to provide more information later on about "what specific aspect of the law" would hurt law enforcement, "since the majority of law enforcement in Arizona strongly supports this legislation."

While I don't expect everyone to have read the Arizona law (I have), I would at least expect those who are going to spout against it to at least have an understanding what provisions it contains and what exactly is spelled out in it. 

The Arizona policy requires local law enforcement to verify the residency status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant and empowers them to turn anyone who doesn't check out over to federal custody.   The law prohibits officers from solely considering race or nationality in implementing the law, though critics say the law will lead to racial profiling.

   Both Ms. Napolitano and Mr. Holder have shown gross ignorance in their charecterizations of this law...which by the way is supported by nearly 75% of Americans...you'd think they'd have read the damn thing.  But then ignorance is often found in those who are supposed to lead us...

Holder Admits NOT Reading AZ Law Before Criticizing It

Attorney General Eric Holder, just like the rest of the Democratic leadership, admitted before the House Judiciary Committee hearing that he'd not yet read the Arizona law that mirrors Federal statutes in language...so far, no-one in this Administration has admitted to actually reading any of the bill that have been passed in this last year...of course, neither has Congress! 

Despite repeatedly voicing concerns about Arizona's new immigration enforcement law in recent weeks and threatening to challenge it, Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday he has not yet read the law -- which is only 10 pages long.  "I have not had a chance to -- I've glanced at it," Holder said at a House Judiciary Committee hearing when asked by Rep.Ted Poe, R-Texas whether Holder has read the state law cracking down on illegal immigrants.  "I'll give you my copy of it if you would like," Poe responded.

Holder told reporters last month that he fears the new law is subject to abuse and that the Justice Department and the Homeland Security Department are in the midst of conducting a review.  [yet, he couldn't be bothered to actually READ THE DAMN THING!, ed.]

The Arizona law requires local and state law enforcement to question people about their immigration status if there's reason to suspect they're in the country illegally, and makes it a state crime to be in the United States illegally.

This is a problem with many of our political class today.  They're quick to condemn...even though they don't have all the facts of the matter in hand.  Hillary Clinton condemned this law as well as ALL of the Congressional Democratic leadership, while not having actually read the law.  Our liberal leaning media has conducted an all out offensive against Arizona and the state legilature there...yet despite this,

60-70 percent of Americans support the law.

That just goes to show you that the country at large recognizes that there is a huge problem with our unsecure southern border, that those who actually have the responsibility to do something...refuse to.  It's time to secure the border, then enforce the laws on the books NOW, not give an amnesty to people who have broken our laws and entered the country illegally.

How can we expect our country to be run by people who don't read the bills they write, or the laws they are condeming?  Congress passed a nearly 3,000 page health care seizure bill without understanding just effect it would have...along straight party/partisan lines.  James Madison said, I would add, what good does it to be in a leadership position when you can't be bothered to actually read what you are condeming in such sweeping terms?

It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood .

A Mad Duck Congress?

If the GOP wins large majorities in this November's election, could the Democrats presently in control of Congress become a "mad duck" congress.  That would mean that during the December's final session of the present Congress, they would pass all sorts of legislation that would be difficult or impossible to reverse, like granting anmesty to 20 million illegal workers, or Cap & Trade bill now stalled in the Senate.  How about a Value Added Tax (VAT). 

These are all presently on the Democratic leaderships agenda, but are stalled or not yet introduced as bills.  Would the Democrats actually attempt to implemeent these very unpopular proposals against the will of the people?  You betcha!  If they passed the America’s Healthy Future Act of 2009 against the wishes of (as polls showed) 57% of the voting public, you can just about guarantee that they'll pass these items, as they've been on the liberal wish lists for decades.

Micky Kaus, a long time journalist from southern California, now running for the US Senate against Barbara Boxer, says,

The only sure solution to Mad Duckism that I can see is for the Republicans to not win too big, leaving at least a substantial number of Dems with something left to lose. ...

In my opinion, just the opposit should happen, the GOP should win such large majorities as to guarantee repealling all of these items in numbers large enough to over come the certainty of veto by this president (who has already proven to be a far left ideologue).    Fred Barnes of the Weekly Standard thinks this is a likely senario as well.  In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, Mr. Barnes comes to this conclusion,

It's unpopular, but one can imagine Democrats might seek to enact it. The president's National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, which began its work last week, is required to submit a plan for serious deficit reduction by Dec. 1, four weeks after the November election.


Its recommendations are non-binding, but a lame duck Congress would be in position to take them up, including a possible VAT. Should Democrats suffer a landslide defeat, their large majorities would still be in place for the lame-duck session. What would Democrats who'd been defeated for re-election have to lose by voting for a VAT? Not much.

This scenario isn't as far-fetched as you might think. In a speech at a Democratic reception in Boston on April 1, Mr. Obama boasted of his willingness to do the unpopular: "If you govern by pundit and polls, then you lose sight of why you got into public service in the first place," he said. His "job," he said, isn't to "husband my popularity [and] make sure that I'm not making waves. . . . So I resolved to do not necessarily what was popular, but what I thought was right."

Does Mr. Obama think a VAT would be "right"? Take a guess.

I think because this on that "wish list" of items Democrats want dearly, that this will likely be what happens.  If the GOP wins less than 100 seats in the House and under 10 in the Senate, that the present Speaker of the House and a lame duck Senate Majority Leader will convene a whirlwind session and attempt to pass as much of thier agenda as possible, without any bipartisan effort at all.   After all, with the passage of the extremely unpopular America’s Healthy Future Act of 2009 without ANY Republican votes, something unprecidented in our history, why would they shirk at the rest of their agenda?

Obama Drops Immigration Amnesty Off Agenda

Mr. Obama has chosen to drop Immigration "Reform" (aka amnesty) of his agenda for this year, stating that it would be easier for him to pass in 2 years when he's up for reelection.  He spent two years promising amnesty supporters that he would pass a bill in his first year of office...unfortunately, the effort expended on the government's seizure of health care took up much of his first  13 months in office, leaving no time for extending amnesty to an estimated 25 million illegal aliens. 

Immigration reform was an issue Obama promised Latino groups that he would take up in his first year in office. But several hard realities — a tanked economy, a crowded agenda, election-year politics and lack of political will — led to so much foot-dragging in Congress that, ultimately, Obama decided to set the issue aside.
With that move, the president calculated that an immigration bill would not prove as costly to his party two years from now, when he seeks re-election, than it would today, even though some immigration reformers warned that a delay could so discourage Democratic-leaning Latino voters that they would stay home from the polls in November.

On the other hand, it may well be that the popularity of the very strict measure just passed in Arizona, nationally, just might have something to do with his sudden reticence.  73%  of Arizonan's support the measure while more than 70% nationally do so as well. 

Seventy-one percent of poll respondents said they'd support requiring their own police to determine people's U.S. status if there was "reasonable suspicion" the people were illegal immigrants, the poll found.  An equal percentage supported arresting those people if they couldn't prove they were legally in the United States.  Almost two-thirds, or 64 percent, said they believed [illegal] immigration hurt the United States, with nearly six in 10, or 58 percent, saying illegal immigrants took jobs away from American workers, the poll found.

So this just might be another election year loser...after all granting near instant citizenship to 20+ million people who have broken our laws to enter the country...just might not be all that popular. 

Personally, I firmly believe that the best way to eliminate illegal works is to first build a defensible/strong border.  Then begin to tackle the problem by prosecuting those who EMPLOY illegal workers.  If you place heavy fines along with removing the business license of those who hire them...the jobs they take will cease...additionally, stop paying ALL federal funds  to those municipalities and counties that are "shelter" cities  and see how fast those cities/counties stop supporting their illegal communities. 

Illegal Immigration & States Rights

The Arizona Legislature has taken a step in the right direction...by passing a law requiring law enforcement officers to detain anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant.  Governor Jan Brewer signed the bill into law yesterday.  For the first time, a state is baldly accusing the federal government of failing in it's Constitutional duty to secure the borders.  This requirement is found in Article IV, Section 4. and states: 

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

The flood of illegal workers almost certainly consitutes an invasion.   With the federal governments failure to secure the border, the several states then must do so themselves.

What is being proposed by the Democratic party and their supporters in the SEIU and La Raza isn't "comprehensive immigration reform" at all.  It's merely another amnesty that we were promised would never happen again...but then in politics no promise is ever "forever" and only lasts until it becomes expedient to cast it aside, something at which this president is becoming an expert.

By passing this legislation, Arizona has once again stepped into the fore front of the battle to gain control of our porous border.  Immediately the democratic enablers have decried it violates "their civil rights. 

President Barack Obama called the measure “misguided” on Friday and said his administration will “closely monitor the situation and examine the civil rights and other implications of this legislation.”

Forgetting for a moment, the non-citizens who are in fact felons de facto and de jurre, and thus HAVE no civil rights.  There there is Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) who immediately denounced the measure and called upon on the president to

...instruct federal agencies not to cooperate with the new law. “This is a discriminatory policy that cannot be enforced without committing grave breaches of due process and equal protection. The law will not withstand legal scrutiny, and I call on the president immediately to reject it in the strongest possible terms,” he said in a statement. Checking someone’s immigration status requires cooperation from Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

And then there is the SEIU

...“This could happen in other states if Congress doesn’t pass real reform,” said Eliseo Medina, a vice president at the Service Employees International Union and a key voice on immigration reform. Medina said SEIU, joining with other organizations, “will be turning up the pressure on Congress and the President to address this crisis once and for all and pass true comprehensive immigration reform.”

who don't want genuine reform, but rather more dues paying union members.  Then of course there is La Raza who don't want reform, but rather would see the southwestern US annexed by Mexico...

National Council of La Raza President Janet Murguía called the bill a “watershed moment for the president and Congress. Will they continue to abdicate their responsibility and allow other states to follow suit or will they show leadership and respond to the state of emergency that our communities face by enacting comprehensive immigration reform?” she said.

I suspect that once voters desires are taken into account, the Democrats will learn Iraq wasn't the only reason George Bush's poll numbers began to sag so preciptously after his reelection. 

Whenever President Bush talked about immigration, his approval ratings went down. It was like clockwork: liberals never understood that the fatal decline in Bush's popularity during his second term had at least as much to do with his advocacy of "comprehensive immigration reform" as with war-weariness. Now President Obama has entered the lists, urging Congress to take up immigration. One can only wonder what Congressional Democrats make of this. Maybe they figure their own approval ratings can't possibly get any lower. But Obama's can, and they will if he keeps talking about immigration.

Most of those people I know in my neck of the woods, suburban Baltimore, Maryland, support measures like this because they see it as a way to put Americans back to work.  There are 15-20 million illegal workers here in country.  Many people here feel that right now, they're taking jobs from people who are literally desperate for work...30 million strong.   If we as a nation actually enforced the laws that we have on the books, and by enacting legislation that would remove the business licences and give heavy fines to those who employe illegal workers, there wouldn't BE a problem.  There would be no work for them to do.

THEN, once the air is clear, we could begin to work on a plan that not just makes sense, but is genuine reform.  But giving those who are here illegally a free pass and push them to the head of the line for citizenship isn't the right way to approach this at all.

Immigration Reform: Our System Is A Mess

Just how screwed up is our immigration system?  Here's an excellent graphic that shows how bad it is.  The nautical term FUBAR comes to mind...

While I am not a proponent of throwing out the baby with the bath water, we really do have to do something.  My preference would be to secure the border first, then come down hard on those employers who hire illegal workers in the first place. 

A first offense would be a large fine, a second would be loss of business licenses, a third offence would lead to jail time as well as huge fines.  Additionally, I would like to see the any municipalities and countiess that advertise as "sanctuaries" lose all Federal funding.  This would discourage those cities and counties from encouraging the hiring of illegal workers.  A large part of California's budget problems stem from the enormous number of illegals they are forced to educate, give health care to as well as providing other services to.

Illegal Hispanic immigration is undermining American values

Illegal immigration is causing an influx of Hispanics who don't embrace American values.

Walking the sandy beach front in this ultra-affluent city, I chanced upon two Hispanic men rummaging through the trash. Startled at the sight, I stared momentarily. One of them yelled at me, "You look now, but in 50 years we will own all this!" Given the tsunami of illegal immigration and the prolific Hispanic birthrate, I responded, "I believe you will."

U.S. Census statistics suggest the scavenging man was right. California, now about 37 percent Latino, is expected to be majority Hispanic by 2042. A quarter of all Americans will probably be Latino in 40 years.

This trend has worrisome aspects. Imagine a huge, growing Hispanic underclass in America with a grudge, a burning sense of having been victimized by the gringos.

I witnessed this grudge up close a few years ago at Texas A&M International University in Laredo. Hispanic students challenged me, claiming any restriction of illegal immigration across the U.S. southern border with Mexico is a violation of Latinos' human rights.

Me: "Would you try to re-enter Spain without a passport?"
Students: "Of course not."
Me: "What about France or Britain?"
Students: "No."

Yet, many of these illegal Latino immigrants suffer the illusion they are divinely entitled to colonize the U.S., and not just the states bordering Mexico, but Chicago and the East Coast as well.

Some Hispanics talk openly of a reconquista, an effort to reclaim the American Southwest that once belonged to Mexico.

Historically, this concept is wide of the mark. Most Hispanic ancestors of immigrants owned no land. Their forebears were serfs of the Roman Catholic Church, once the largest landholder in Latin America and the world. Other ancestors labored as landless peons for Spanish colonial landlords, who were later relieved of their lands by 19th-century Anglo-Americans.

Historical entitlement is but one of the myths surrounding illegal Hispanic immigration. Gringos have their own fables, such as ultimate assimilation into a greater English-speaking society.

Professor Lawrence Harrison of Tufts University in Medford, Mass., notes that in California fourth-and fifth-generation Mexican immigrants are still speaking only Spanish and resisting assimilation. He says there are serious cultural barriers to the old melting-pot concept. Words like compromise and dissent, crucial concepts to American democracy, have radically different meanings in Spanish. Dissent, for example, translates into heresy.

Most alarming, today's influx of poor Latin American immigrants comes from countries less than congenial to democracy, a law-based society, or public education. Many experts look with alarm on the fact that, unlike earlier European and Asian immigrants, the tsunami from the south too often undervalues educating children because many Hispanic parents resent the idea that their children will have more education than they have. In 2000, only 25 percent of working-age male Mexican immigrants had graduated high school, a sad fact that contributes to an increasingly volatile underclass.

Limited legal Latino immigration greatly enriches the United States. I've personally seen how Hispanic Americans bring tremendous loyalty and leadership qualities to our armed forces

But it is morally shameful to expect taxpayers to fund free education and medical care for lawbreakers so that the wealthiest American restaurant owners, ranchers, agribusiness owners, and construction companies can hire cheap labor regardless of the national consequences.

It is the wealthy sticking it to the poor. With so many Americans losing their homes and unable to find jobs, it is outrageous to say Hispanics still take jobs no one else will do.

Congress, which generally represents the wealthy, should begin by imposing huge fines on affluent Americans who hire illegals. Start with the millionaires in my neighborhood who don't mow their own lawns or baby-sit their children and instead hire immigrants who are almost certainly illegal.

Businessmen are bonkers if they think opening US borders to allow the free flow of uneducated labor will make America competitive with a burgeoning Chinese economy.

Naive American liberals need to stop trilling over Emma Lazarus's "Give me your tired, your poor,/ Your huddled masses". World population was 1.5 billion when she penned those lines. It now approaches 7 billion. America is not a dumping ground for the rest of the world's surplus population.

Committing national suicide is not without precedent. The Dutch are rapidly losing their country. Before long, its largest cities will belong to Muslim immigrants. What then becomes of the liberal tradition of Erasmus and traditional Dutch tolerance?

Illegal immigration may ultimately be more threatening to the character and values of the U.S. than any threat from radical Islamists. It's not about tribe; it's about the law.

It's well past time to secure our southern border.  Not doing so has become a national security matter.  I've been hearing for several years that terrorists have been infiltrating across the border, though I've never seen anything to substantiate that at all.  We are the only nation that doesn't have real, secure border security.  I have nothing against anyone who immigrates here, but those who break our laws must be dealt with. 

I don't think that just securing the borders is the only solution.  If we begin really enforce the immigration laws, and punish those who HIRE illegals, that will go a long way to ending the problem.  If we begin to fine and remove business licenses of those companies who hire illegal workers, they will stop  hiring them.  When the jobs stop...so will the illegal workers...

Border Rancher Murdered

The body of Rancher Rob Krentz and his dog were found shot to death on his ranch. Krentz, who always was good-natured and willing to help people, had called in that he had found an illegal alien at one of his watering holes and was assisting him. That was the last that was heard from him before his body was discovered.


Rob Krentz was a lifelong rancher in Southeastern Arizona, 12 miles north of the U.S./Mexico border and 25 miles northeast of the city of Douglas. He was the father of three children. The ranch has been in his family for three generations, more than 100 years – since 1907, and sits on about 35,000 acres with 1,000 head of cattle. Running a ranch is hard work and with the influx of illegal aliens increasing, Rob was at ground zero of the stampede that is destroying the fragile desert landscape.

The Krentz family has received numerous threats in the past by illegal aliens trespassing on their property. In 2002, the family was physically threatened when one of them stumbled upon a group of 39 illegal aliens. They were told to get off the land and they made threats. The Border Patrol did catch the illegal aliens after they were called, but we all know that illegal aliens, if deported, come right back across.

In 1999, Krentz and his wife Susan did an interview with PBS when they came around asking about the issue of illegal immigration and its impacts on the local ranchers.

“We’ve been broken into,” Susan Krentz told PBS.

“One time,” Rob said “You know, we’ve personally been broke in once. And they took about $700 worth of stuff. And you know, if they come in and ask for water, I’ll still give them water. I – you know, that’s just my nature.”

In 2003, Congressman Tom Tancredo mentioned the challenges of the border ranchers, and in particular highlighted the the Krentz family’s plight.

“In the month of November, 2002, in the Tucson Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol … where the Krentz ranch is located, the Border Patrol apprehended 23,000 border crossers,” Tancredo wrote. “many people would suggest that the [apprehension] ratio is just about maybe one in five, and that is a very conservative estimate. … I think it is closer to one in ten”.

That means in that sector alone for one month, 8 years ago, the most conservative estimate is that 115,000 illegal aliens crossed the border in that one chunk of land in the Tucson sector. All of the illegals are unknown.

Tancredo notes that the Krentz’s did mention to him that they called the Border Patrol. In one instance illegal aliens had butchered one of his calves.

In February [2002] … a calf was butchered by illegal alien trespassers. Two men responsible were caught. They were tried. They were found guilty. They served a total of 51 days in jail. They were also ordered to pay $200 in restitution to the Krentz ranch. The Krentz ranch has not seen a cent of that money; and, of course, our best guess is they will not because these people have been released. They either came back into the population up here in the U.S.A. or returned to Mexico.

6 years after the PBS interview, in 2005, Krentz did an interview with KOLD as the number of illegal aliens exploded.

“We’re being over-run, and it’s costing us lots and lots of money,” Krentz said.

“We figured it up over the last five years and it’s cost us over $8 million,” Krentz said. “Cattle don’t like people walking through, so they move. So, cattle weight loss, destruction of fences, breaking our pipelines, they break them in two and (the pipes) run for two or three days before we find it.”

Krentz went on to say that when he was a boy he actually knew the few illegal aliens that came through looking for work, he said it’s nothing like that now as hundreds of unknown illegals stream across his land.

Rob Krentz is just one of the many people who live and work along our southern border. A tough, hard working man who was trying to make a living and doing what he loved. Those who support illegal aliens will talk about “human rights”, but where were the “human rights” when it came to Rob Krentz? Where was the government to protect our border and prevent this from happening, though they’ve been told time and time again? They didn’t protect his property rights, nor his civil rights.

This country failed Robert Krentz, his family and all who work for him. As they have failed countless families all across this country. The number of deaths is estimated to be from 15-25 deaths caused by illegal aliens each day in this country.

It is not known yet whether Krentz was specifically targeted or whether it was just one of the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who come across our border every year who have actual criminal records, but in the end does it matter? A hard working man was killed on his own land. And all for just trying to help out someone in need.

And that is simply outrageous.

Rest in peace Robert Krentz, the country will surely miss a great and kind man like you.

The discussion about comprehensive solutions is over. Words are no longer necessary. The discussion is now human rights and border secutity. The discussion must be centered on American citizen's human rights and our government's unwillingness to secure our southern border. It is not the government's inability to secure the border, but it's the government's desire to continue to allow the United States to be a safety valve supporting Mexico's desire to remain a peon state.

Although the fatal shot that killed Rob Krentz was fired by an illegal alien, there is no doubt that the United States government is complicit in this horrendous crime. As stated in the below article, Tom Tancredo had visited rancher Krentz four years ago and was visiting Cochise County for a Tea Party when he got the news about Rob Krentz's murder. Border Patrol is tracking two illegal aliens thought to be headed back to Mexico. Tom Tancredo is calling for National Guard because Napolitano has lied about the border being more secure than any time in history. Rancher Krentz is not the only martyr to failed policy. Each and every day 25 Americans die at the hands of illegal aliens. Each and every year that equals three times the number that died at the WTC on 9/11. Where's the outrage ? Where's their memorial?
Escalating violence along our borders must be stopped. The aroma of amnesty is now fueling an already out of control invasion from the south. The tens of thousands crossing our borders illegally from the south are now creating mischief and engaging in criminal behavior. Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Comprehensive Immigration Reform is the code phrase adopted by the Democratic Party to grant amnesty to all those people who have entered the country illegally and giving them fast-track toward citizenship. I believe this is wrong because it sets a horrible precedent to those who have taken the time and energy to enter the country legally. Why bother to follow the laws of the United States, obtain a visa, and enter the country legally when merely walking across the border and then just waiting until you're granted citizenship by Congress.

This is the what the Democratic Party has wrought. The pending legislation, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009 (CIR ASAP) has 92 cosponsors...all Democrats. This legislation wil:

Legalization: The bill creates a legalization program for qualified undocumented immigrants (and their spouses and children):

• Those who qualify would receive a conditional nonimmigrant visa which is valid for six years. This visa allows legalized immigrants with work and travel authorization and protection from removal.

• To qualify, an applicant must:

1. Establish they have been in the U.S. illegally before December 15, 2009. Attest to having made contributions to the U.S. through employment, education, military service, or other volunteer/community service (with exemptions for minors, persons with disabilities, the elderly, or other unusual circumstances).
2. Pay an application fee and a $500 fine.
3. Not have any convictions for a felony or for three or more misdemeanors.

 • Certain immigrants who are in removal proceedings, facing removal, or ordered to depart voluntarily would be able to apply for legalization.

  

• All bars related to undocumented status – such as using a false Social Security number -- will be waived (but security and criminal bars cannot be waived).

  

DREAM Act: Undocumented individuals who were brought to the U.S. before the age of 16 will apply for legal status through the same program outlined above.

1. Eligible persons will not have to pay fines.
2. Such persons will be eligible for accelerated LPR status upon graduation from high school, and completion of two years of college, military service, or employment. Persons granted LPR status under this provision will be eligible for naturalization three years after the date LPR status is granted.
3. Individual states will be permitted to determine whether undocumented students can benefit from in-state tuition rates.

In other words it will grant not just amnesty, but will fast-track those who entered the country illegally and give them citizenship before all those who have followed the laws of this country. There is something fundamentally wrong with this entire concept.  The Democratic Party has the further hope that by creating roughly 30 million instant citizens that these people will then register to vote as Democrats and thus create a huge imbalance in the current near parity in party membership.

When you reward bad behavior, you merely encourage it. If this legislation is passed it will encourage ever more people to flout the immigration process that our government has enacted and will persuade many more people to illegally enter the country in the hope that in a few years they too will be given instant citizenship.

 Those are the fundamental flaws in this peice of legislation. In this time of deep recession, we need to ensure that those economic sectors that have been hit the hardest are given some relief. At the moment, the construction industry is at a near stand still. Those few companies that are still working, are often using illegal immigrants because they will work for much, much less than legal workers. Furthermore, these companies are not paying taxes on these workers further reducing the revenue the government needs to function, and thus contributes the deficit.

The best way to remove the incentive for illegal immigration is not to prosecute those individuals that come to America seeking work, but rather to actively prosecute those who hire them. This is a fundamental change in the way the government approaches illegal immigration. By removing the incentive to hire illegal workers, more Americans who are unemployed will be put back to work.

First of all, by changing the laws in such as way that an employer who is fined $10,000.00 per illegal worker he is employing for a first offense would, initially show that the government will no longer countenance the use of illegal workers. A second offense would incur the loss of business licenses as well as an increased fine of $20,000.00 per illegal worker. A third offense would be a $30,000.00 fine as well as a jail term of one year per illegal worker, those additional years would be served consecutively...in other words, if you're caught 3 times with 10 workers, you will be fined $300,000.00 and serve 10 years inn prison.  A system similar to this was instituted by the city of Knoxville, Tennessee a few years ago. In a very short time, the number of companies using illegal workers was reduced to a very small number. After all, who wants to risk their ability to have a business if they are caught using illegal workers?

This would in fact be a fundamental reform of our immigration system. It would rapidly remove any and all incentive for companies to hire people who are in this country illegally, and would immediately put unemployed Americans back to work. Of course since it is a relatively simple solution of complicated problem, there is very little chance that this country would implement such legislation.
