WAKE UP AMERICA!

Hey, a friend of mine sent this to me. It rather resonates with a clear sighted message for what ails America today:
Friends, would you believe that Lee Iacocca is 94 years old and is stillKICKIN’ butt? Check out his latest rant.

Just as true today as it was when his book first came out. He was, andstill is, a brilliant businessman! Often we need to be reminded of Iacocca'swords.

Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler Corporation from its death throes, and developed the Mustang? He's now 94 years old and has a new book, 'Where Have All The Leaders Gone?'.

Lee Iacocca Says:

Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage with this so called president? We should be screaming bloody murder! We've got a gang of tax cheating clueless leftists trying to steer our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even run a ridiculous cash-for-clunkers program without losing $26 billion of the taxpayers'money, much less build a hybrid car.
But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'trust me, the economy is getting better.' Better? You've got to be kidding. This is America , not the damned Titanic'.  I'll give you a sound bite: 'Throw all the Democrats out, along with Obama!'

You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore.

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in Afghanistan , Iran is completing their nuclear bombs and missiles and nobody seems to know what to do. The liberal press is waving 'pom-poms' instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of the ' America ' my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I've had enough. How about you?

I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have. The Biggest 'C' is Crisis! (Iacocca elaborates on nine C's of leadership, with crisis being the first.)

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It's easy to sit there with thumb up your butt and talk theory. Or send someone else's kids off to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself. It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down.

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. We're immersed in a bloody war now with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving. But our soldiers are dying daily. We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the world, and it's getting worse every day!

We've lost the manufacturing edge to Asia , while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs.
Gas prices are going to skyrocket again, and nobody in power has a lucid plan to open drilling to solve the problem. This country has the largest oil reserves in the WORLD, and we cannot drill for it because the politicians have been bought by the tree-hugging environmentalists.

Our schools are in a complete disaster because of the  teachers' union. Our borders are like sieves and they want to give all illegals amnesty and free healthcare. The middle class is being squeezed to death every day. These are times that cry out for leadership.
But when you look around, you've got to ask: 'Where have all the leaders gone?' Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point.

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo? We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened. Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping the government will make it better for them. Now, that's just crazy. Deal with life.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing.
Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, look what Obama did about it. Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debt, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem.
The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the Chicago gangsters in Congress. We didn't elect you to turn this country into a losing European Socialist state. What is everybody  so afraid of? That some bonehead on NBC or CNN news will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change? Had Enough? Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope - I believe in America .
In my lifetime, I've had the privilege of living through some ofAmerica 's greatest moments. I've also experienced some of our worst crises: The 'Great Depression,' World War II,' the 'Korean War,' the 'Kennedy Assassination,' the 'Vietnam War,' the 1970's oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years since 9/11.

American Schools Teach 2nd Amend Is For Militia Only

Via Instapundit, a photograph of a American high school text book that states the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution give the right to bear arms "in a state militia."

Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

..which is a horse of an entirely different colour.  I repeat the call:  If anyone know from which text book this is, I would like to have the name and publisher. Because this is a blatant recast of the founding document of this country.
____________________________________________________

UPDATE:  Bryan Preston of PJMedia has the pertinent information:

Author John J. Newman has some explaining to do. His textbook, United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination, literally rewrites the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.
On page 102 of Newman’s book (page 134 of the PDF version), the author cuts the Second Amendment in half and leaves out several key words.
Preston goes on to say, far more eloquently than I can;
But the Second Amendment clearly guarantees the individual’s right to keep and bear arms. Newman has relegated that right only to those who are members of a government militia. That is not how the courts see the Second Amendment. In District of Columbia vs Heller (2008) the United States Supreme Court held that “the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.”
Please contact his publisher and protest this blatant falsification of our Constitution.

I'm Tired...

"I'm 63 and I'm Tired"
 by Robert A. Hall

I'm 63
. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I've worked hard
since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired
of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I'm tired
of being told that I have to pay more taxes to "keep people in their homes." Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I'm willing to help. But if they bought Mc Mansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble use their own money to help them.

I'm tired
of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities Americaprovided to them. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have:
1. the economy of Zimbabwe ,
2. the freedom of the press of China
3. the crime and violence of Mexico ,
4. the tolerance for Christian people of Iran
5. the freedom of speech of Venezuela .

I'm tired
of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Sharia's law tells them to.

I'm tired
of being told that "race doesn't matter" in the post-racial world of Obama, when it's all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U
.S. Senators from Illinois.

I think
it's very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly in an all-knowing government.

I'm tired
of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must not complain when Saudi Arabia uses the money we pay for their oil to fund mosques and madras Islamic schools to preach hate in America, while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I'm tired
of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore's, and if you're greener than Gore, you're green enough.

I'm tired
of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don't think gay people choose to be gay, but I #@*# sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I'm tired of harassment from "cool" people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

I'm tired
of illegal aliens being called "undocumented workers", especially those who aren't working, but living on welfare or crime. What's next? Calling drug dealers, "Undocumented Pharmacists"? And, no, I'm not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it's been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I'm willing to fast track citizenship for any Hispanic who can speak English, doesn't have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military. Those are the kind of citizens we need.

I'm tired
of the trashing of our military by latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are? Not even close. So here's a deal for those folks. I'll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, while the critics of our military can be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl
in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of school girls in Indonesia because the girls were Christian -- then we'll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.

I'm tired
of people telling
me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I'm tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois , where the "Illinois Combine" of Democrats has looted the public treasury for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama's cabinet.

I'm tired
of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about "innocent" mistakes, "stupid" mistakes or "youthful" mistakes, when all of us know they think their only mistake was getting caught.

Speaking of poor, I'm tired
of people with a sense of entitlement who have air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn't have that in 1970, but we didn't know we were "poor." The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

I'm real tired
of people, rich or poor, who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I'm tired, b
ut I'm also glad to be 63, mostly because I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter.

Robert A. Hall is a Marine Vietnam Veteran who served five terms in the Massachusetts State Senate.  Additionally,
he is an actor. He plays the coroner on CSI if you watch that show. He also is a Marine Vietnam War Veteran, but does not mention that he had his legs blown off in that war. This should be required reading for every man, woman and child in the United States of America

Why Communism and Socialism Always Fail

There is, at root, only one reason why communism and socialism always fail.
The family is communist — from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs — and it takes a while to realize that the rest of the world doesn’t work that way, because only parents are willing to make that sort of sacrifice, and then only for their own kids. [emphasis is mine, not the author's]
And that is it.

Mr.Obama We Built This Country, Not The Government!

Here's an excellent commentary on Obama's "You Didn't Build It."
129 As a small business owner all I can say is that I think the current sentiment in the small business community is that we didn't sign up for this shit. Y'all can vote for whatever the hell you want but we are not going to be a part of it.

I have seen more owners get out of the business or retire in the past couple of years than ever before and with the ACA on the horizon the jobs these businesses produced will not be replaced. The economics no longer work. This is why unemployment is always so high in socialist countries. What you have to go through to have employees is just brutal.
But here's the thing about what Obama said --- he has it exactly backwards. The government didn't build any of that shit he is talking about --- we built it. We are the ones who paid for it. Not only did we build our businesses we built the schools and the roads and everything else he thinks was generated out of thin air. If you want to get technical about it the businesses and taxpayers that came along before we did built it all and now we are building what comes next.

And not only that, but we did it with the albatross of a predatory, corrupt and overbearing government hanging around our necks at every juncture.
And now we have had enough.

I haven't made more than $50k from my business but one or two years of the past 15. But now that it is time to cash out after providing literally hundreds of jobs I get the stink eye and get castigated for being a member of the 1%. Even though I can remember sitting on the edge of the bed and holding my head in my hands wondering what I had done risking everything I had to create a business and wondering how it would all work out when I had just finished working several days in a row with no sleep... I am the enemy. Even though I didn't take a paycheck for the first year of the business and later skipped other paychecks to meet payroll or to pay taxes I am somehow at fault for the fact that all of these people sitting on their asses or working their cushy government jobs with the large pensions funded by armies of tax collectors and regulators may have to go without.

Well, I already went without so they can bloody well shut the fuck up and take their turn in the barrel! If they want to risk everything they have or work their asses off with no guarantee of success only to be told at the end that they were not responsible for their own success and don't deserve their rewards then they are welcome to go down that path and see what it is like. But the number of people who will pursue the American dream and build the economy from the roots up will be greatly decreased in the current atmosphere and all of these self-entitled idiots will sit around wondering why the government is still going broke and why no one is hiring.

No country can survive socialism. It just doesn't happen. Sooner or later the bill comes due. But before it does you always get demagogic idiots like Obama, or Chavez who try to blame their failures on the only people who are keeping everything afloat. It is not enough they sank the damn ship... they have to come after the people in the life boats too.

That is the sort of mentality we are dealing with.

(Social) Democrats On Record: We Want To Kill The Economy

With today's vote  to increase taxes across the board on small business, the (Social) Democratic Party is now on record as wanting to kill the economy to justify the state's take over of all economic activity.
The Democrat-controlled Senate passed this by a 51-48 margin Wednesday, voting to raise marginal income-tax rates from 33% to 36% for individuals making more than $200,000 and from 35% to 39.6% for couples making

On top of that body blow to the economy, which the House is sure to block, the Senate Democrats' vote would also increase the top tax rate on capital gains and dividends from 15% to 20% — which, as Forbes' Donald Marron recently noted, will actually reach 25% in 2013 thanks to ObamaCare and the reinstatement of the "Pease provision" that limits deductions.

There can now be no pretense of distance between Senate Democrats and Obama; this was his tax policy being voted on, with Vice President Joseph Biden himself presiding to break any possible tie. Every Democratic senator except the retiring Jim Webb and retiring "independent Democrat" Joe Lieberman voted for it, apparently to avoid embarrassing the president.more than $250,000, some 2.5 million households.
If this (on the very slim chance) makes it though the House of Representatives, this will have the unfortunate effect of forcing an already slowing economy back into recession, just as FDR's Keynesian economic policies of 1934-5 pitched the then recovering national economic outlook back into a more severe recession in 1937.
Outside the Currie report, another factor involved was the uncertainty the business community felt concerning New Deal policy. The combination of repeated budget deficits, increasing regulatory obstacles, higher labor costs due to the Wagner Act, and the threat of higher taxes contributed to the reduction of business and investor confidence. New investment had dropped, causing FDR to speculate that there was a "capital strike" designed to oust him from office.

This "capital strike" was caused by the terrifying effect that the New Deal's random targeting of business had on the general economy, according to 1940 Republican presidential candidate Wendell Wilkie. If investors thought the government would take over a certain industry, they would withhold their money from that industry.

The targeting of business and corporations was very evident in the new undistributed profits tax. Companies had cut their dividend distributions in the face of lower earnings, reducing the revenue the federal government received from dividend taxes. Therefore, a tax bill was passed to get at those undistributed funds. According to the August 1937 New York Times article, "Levy on Profits Halts Expansion," the undistributed profits tax decreased companies' financial reserves, which prevented them from retaining their employees and investing in new equipment.
If you see parallels to what is happening today, you'd be correct.  Today, businesses all over the country have refrained from spending money, have hesitated from hiring new employees, and have kept production down because they are uncertain of what will happen.  Recent economic forcasts have shown with enemic 1.9% growth for the 2nd Qtr 2012, will probably be corrected down from that dismal number as new unemployment figures have risen for the 3rd month in a row.
In this sort of economic climate, with a Federal government that has implemented choking regulatory standards, its no wonder that business have  so far refused to increase either spending or production.  There is far too much uncertainly during an election year for any business to being betting on an economic recovery.

WIth this in mind, any GOP/Libertarian candidate for the US Senate would be wise to hammer their opponent for voting to raise taxes.  They would also be smart to use this video as well:

And she idiotically doubles down on her statement:

Then they would hit them with this video from the Romney Campaign:

Now, this is the policy of the (Social) Democratic Party...tax business into the ground!

Sucking The Public Tit

The question is...have we slid far enough into socialism or not?

That's what Obama did last week...sucking up to Hollywood for a $15,000,000.00 payoff.  Though arguably, Clooney was sucking off Obama...

Obama is a Hypocrit: Chapter 934

In 2007 and 2008, Senator Barack Obama called George W. Bush unpatriotic for wanting to raise the debt ceiling.

During the campaign debates with John McCain, he promised a net spending cut...yet since then, he as president has added more than $5,000,000,000,000.00 to the national debt.

Now, in late 2011, he wants another $1,000,000,000,000.00...Mr. Obama, WHERE DID THE MONEY GO? The Democratic party's economic agenda has failed. Our national debt has passed 100% of our GDP. We've run out of other's people's money, and it's time to not just balance the budget, but cut it to the bone. Across the board spending cuts to ALL line items. 40% minimum to just balance the budget. That doesn't mean we'd be able to pay down the debt, just to service it. To service it we'd need to raise government income either by raising taxes (that would throttle the economy even worse than now) or by eliminating whole-sale governmental regulations that are killing the ability of businesses to grow.

Eliminate several of the government departments that really have no use other than as jobs for SEIU members...Education, HUD, HHS, Commerce, "Homeland Security" (isn't that the province of the Dept of Defense?); as well as various agencies that are killing the economy through bureaucratic regulations, EPA, DEA, ATF, etc.  Most of these agencies have vastly over-reached their mandates and are actively injuring the ability of our economy to expand.

The Time has come for Congress to be swept clean.  Pass constitutional amendments that limit the time Congress may sit in sessionas well as term limits.  If we can limit the number of terms any president may hold office, why in the hell don't we treat Congress the same way.  Many of the bullshit bills passed these days are done by Congressmen and Senators trying to justify their inflated salaries and to pay of political constiuencies (See ObamaCare, TARP and the "Stimulus Package" that wasn't--right there is $3 trillion dolllars in wasted spending alone)...Mr. Obama, Mr. Reid and Nancy Pelosi are all responsible for the past four years of wasteful spending...but as Harry Truman once said, "the buck stops here" and here is Barack Obama's desk.

President Zero

Charles Krauthammer, whom I do admire, though I don't always agree with him, called Barack Obama,
“Obama Is President Zero – zero economic expansion, zero jobs, zero ideas on how to cure the economy.”
Krauthammer went on to say the president’s speech on Thursday is a campaign speech.
“He doesn’t understand that his administration has stopped the economy in its tracks.”

I expect his speech on Thursday night to call for...nothing specific...but to blame the GOP controlled House of Representatives for obstructing the "recovery" of the economy from the train wrech his party's policies have caused.

Hat Tip:  Gateway Pundit

Americans Behind Unrest In Israel?

It appears as if the current political turmoil in Israel is being pushed by Democratic Operatives here in the US.   Aretz Shiva7 is reporting that their investigation into the current protest has been instigated by an
Stanley Greenberg.
According to an investigative report by Maariv's Kalman Libeskind, the protests were engineered by a group of media strategists who are directed by prominent Democratic strategist Stanley Greenberg, a former adviser to Bill Clinton, John Kerry and others. Greenberg directed the strategists to create a protest that was not led by one specific group, in order to create social ferment. An unnamed left-wing leader would eventually step into this ferment and take the reins, Greenberg predicted.

The Israeli strategists reportedly include Boaz Gaon, Moshe Gaon and Eldad Yaniv, who worked in Ehud Barak's successful race for Prime Minister in 1999, also in cooperation with Greenberg.
If this is true..it's yet another example of Democrats attempting to undermine the Israeli government. Over at Legalinsurrection, Professor Jacobson thinks that,
His mission: stoking economic discontent into a protest movement intended to again, replace Benjamin Netanyahu with a leader more willing to sell out to American leftists and make concessions the Palestinians.
That's mine as well.

Thought For The Day

Via Powerline blog
a thought for the day, from the Democratic Party’s 1924 nominee John W. Davis, who, after losing to Calvin Coolidge but feeling that one of his problems was the strain of demagogic populism in the Democratic Party, said this: “When will we get done with the fool idea that the way to make a party grow is to scare away everybody who has an extra dollar in his pocket? God forbid that the Democratic Party should become a mere gathering of the unsuccessful!”
I don't think they ever will get away from that idea...and the past 4 years show's that they still haven't learned yet.
