Article 1, Section 9, Constitution of the United States

If this is the law of the land...why in a republic (little r) and as republicans, do we allow mere POLITICIANS to the right to use a "title of office" for the rest of their lives as if it were de facto a patent of nobility. Because, as republicans, this should NOT be the case...just saying...

Obama Bungled It

An excellent grasp of how badly Mr. Obama bungled the Olympics via NRO:

The Big Guy's Only Supposed to Take the Stage When the Deal's Done

A reader makes a good point, and articulates one of the reasons I figured Chicago's bid was a sure thing:

There's actually something worrisome about this whole Chicago fiasco, and it goes back to President Obama's inexperience. Diplomacy 101 tells us that your head of state only shows up on the high-profile stage when a deal is complete. The lesson that most politicians learn well before they gain positions of power is that diplomacy is done by diplomats, professionals who work through all the negotiations and the hardball tactics and the carrot/stick combinations. The principals in the matter gather to discuss high-level topics and to smile for the cameras as the agreement is being signed. Heads of state do not conduct diplomacy, they ratify it, and surprises are entirely unwelcome at those summits and signing events (hence Reagan's anger in Iceland.)

Why were you and Ramesh surprised? Because you thought that President Obama at least knew this very basic lesson. Today's announcement suggests that he does not, and it just got advertised big-time to countries who already were pretty sure we had a rookie at the helm who didn't know how to use international power. President Obama just got upstaged by an organization against whom no retaliation is acceptable, and he wants to meet with the Iranians next month? We are in deep, deep trouble.

Yep, we're screwed. Our Commander in Chief is a naif, who just doesn't understand what it takes to (literally) be the leader of the free world. Nor does his staff grasp any of the basics that the lefties at the State Dept would have gladly advised them (for free no less). Now, we have at least three years of more bungling that will look Jimmy Carter look like a brilliant man.

Blame it on Bush

Eventually, the wingbats on the far left will get over thier BDS...but not yet. Roland Burris blames Geo. Bush for not getting the Olympics.
Senator Rowland Burris of Illinois, the Senator who was appointed to fill President Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat, blames George Bush for Chicago not getting the Olympics in 2016. Burris stated in an interview, shortly after the announcement, that the image of the U. S. has been so tarnished in the last 8 years that, even Barack Obama making an unprecedented pitch for the games could not overcome the hatred the world has for us as a result of George Bush.

Blame It On Rio

Mr. Obama went to Copenhagen to "win" one for his "hometown" and failed miserably. The substance of the speaches Mr. & Mrs. Obama gave pivoted on themselves. "Give Chicago the Olympics because you like me/us". It was dumb, here they had an audience of Euro-trash, the kind of people liberal far-left in America admires most, and they could only muster 18 votes.

Didn't we have matters of far more import here in America that demanded his attention? How about unemployment topping 9.8%. How about decisions to make in TWO wars? How about his attempt to sieze control of health care? How about his attempt to utterly wreck the economy with "cap and trade."? No, he gambled and lost on a side show.
