NYTimes Has Begun the Character Assasination of Ted Cruz

Gail Collins of the NYTimes has begun the character assassination of Ted Cruz.  She's doing this to start, even now, preparing the 2016 presidential election battlefield.  Ann Althouse has posted a great take down of Ms. Collins article.  She lists 5 problems with the Times piece.

1. Somebody get Gail Collins a thesaurus. For "stupendous," try "astonishing." It's got that huffy, aghast tone you seem to be looking for. I know, "stupendous" is tempting because it gives the feeling that you're calling your target stupid, but when you find something "stupendous," you're actually confessing to stupor on your own part, and literally, if you are in a stupor, you are stupid.

2. This woman-defending-woman column ends with a recipe metaphor. Is that good gender politics? It resonates with what I think is Collins's effort to make us see this interplay between 2 U.S. Senators in terms of a man patronizing a woman.

3. Cruz's questions were about the security of our constitutional rights: Why did humor belong in that recipe?

4. Where was this "self-righteousness"? Collins's evidence is that Cruz used the phrases “My... point is," "in my opinion," “I would point out," and "In my view." This phobia about first-person-singular pronouns is silly. It's used against Obama all the time. What does Collins think of all those right-wing bloggers who will inform you about how many times Obama says "I" in a given speech? I'll bet she thinks it's... stupid. I certainly do.

5. Cruz also referred to his role as counsel in Heller (the Supreme Court's biggest 2d Amendment case) — another thing Collins considered self-referential and self-righteous. But Collins began her column building up Dianne Feinstein's stature because of her encounter with the fatally wounded Harvey Milk and George Moscone many years ago. Does personal experience lend weight to political opinion or not? Feinstein said: "I walked in, I saw people shot. I’ve looked at bodies that have been shot with these weapons. I’ve seen the bullets that implode." That's at least as self-referential and self-righteous as Cruz's statement that he was not "unfamiliar" with Heller given that he worked on the case.

Ms. Collins in particular and the MSM in general are preparing the battlefield for the tactics of personal destruction to use on Mr. Cruz.  If they can marginalize him now, since as a Hispanic Conservative, he (like Sarah Palin before him) is a threat to the whole Liberal meme (they support minorities and women).

If the MSM can successfully marginalize Cruz NOW, he won't be a threat to either Biden, Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama (yes, she's already being touted as presidential material on the left) in 2016.

We, in the grass roots blogging community need to begin our pushback NOW, BEFORE the narrative is set in concrete.  I would urge everyone who has a blog to start publishing pushback against articles on Cruz, so that even Google searches won't be able to hide positive mentions of any minority of conservative.

We have to keep in mind that Mr. Cruz wasn't annointed by the GOP "elite" leadership inside the DC Beltway.  He's the choice of the Tea Party movement of Texas.  He wiped out the RSCC's choice in the GOP primary and easily won the general election last November.  He along with Rand Paul and Marco Rubio are NOT part of the "elite" GOP leadeship.  They're outsiders as their support comes from the base of  the party and the Tea Party movement. 

If the MSM can successfully destroy the credibility of these men by manufacturing a false narrative of wackiness or extremism, they they will be finished in national politics.  We in the grass roots base, have the job of trying to push back against the official Democratic Propaganda sources (aka, the MSM).  If we can flood the interwebs with good stories, we can overwhelm even GOOGLE's biased, dollars supported searches.

Mr. Cruz, Paul and Rubio are the future of the GOP.  If we allow them to be marginalized by the MSM we, the grass roots conservative movement will have failed America.

GOP Leadership: It's Time For A Change!

Has the time come for a re-assessment of the GOP leadership?  Have they lost touch with what the base of the party really desires.  In Congress, the leadership of John Boehner has  increased spending through "continuing resolutions" instead of passing a budget.  That is a huge problem because those "CR's" have increased spending in each of the past 4 years...which was when the Democratically controlled Senate last passed a budget (2009).

Instead of passing a budget and sending it to die in the Senate, and effectively shutting down the Federal government, the House leadership has gone along to get along...which is the root of the problem.  We, the American people, don't want our leaders to just go along. Oddly enough, we expect them to lead.  That's something they've just not done.

Furthermore, our "elite" party leadership, through their top notch consultants have lost the last four elections.  2006 (GOP lost control of both houses of Congress...and the Dem's increased spending, except Defense, 25% across the board).  

2008 was disastrous because we chose a Moderate candidate (aka Democrat Lite) as our standard bearer...who ran the worst GOP presidential campaign in modern history and managed to lose badly to a candidate who was wholly unqualified for the office of President, and allowing a Socialist to be elected for the first time in our history. 

In 2010, those candidate anointed by our "elite leadership" lost, while those chosen by the Tea Party movement returned control of the House of Representatives back to the GOP...leadership of whom, promptly squandered the opportunity  to force the Democratically controlled Senate to do their Constitutionally mandated jobs...and produce a budget...something they have yet to do.  Instead, they chose to "go along to get along" and passed "continuing resolutions" to fund government operations.  Those CR's included regular increases in spending each of the past 4 years.

In 2012, having NOT learned a damn thing from 2008, the "elite leadership" of the party anointed yet another Moderate (aka Democrat Lite) who ran arguably an even worse campaign against a President who has had the worst recovery from a recession in history...yet...

We expect Rince Piebus and his coterie of inside the beltway strategists to be able to figure out where they went wrong.  These guys ARE the problem...they aren't part of the solution.  We in the GOP aren't called the "party of stupid" for nothing.  Thinking  that these people will be able to solve the party problem is like asking an alcoholic if just one more drink will help him over the finish line...

It may well be time to boot all these people out.  Start fresh...those of us who are small-time bloggers and grass roots activists have been calling for this for four long years.  It's time for a change in the GOP.  Unless we want to be come the irrelevant party of a permanent minority, we need to dump the current leadership and find new.  

Remember that Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz were NOT selected by the "elite leadership" they were chosen by We The People as our voice in the corrupt cesspool inside the Washington Beltway.  They're now the standard bearers of the future of our party, NOT the Rince Priebus', John Boehner's and Mitch McConnel's...they are the past that has gone along to get along and helped put us into a debt that our great grand children won't be able to pay off...

It's time for a change in leadership.  The current leadership has led us down the primrose path to ruin.  It's time to dump them, because  dammit, we can't do any  worse than they already have.

There Comes A Point...

I think there's a point at which even a dyed in the wool hard left Liberal pays enough.  Case in point.  Bill Maher is on the point of jumping ship.  He's paying 60% of his income in taxes living in California.

Consider that in California, millionaires on top of the 39.6 percent they'll pay to the federal government in 2013, there's an additional 14.63 percent that now goes to the state.

Add in payroll taxes, local taxes, and property taxes, and I've seen estimates that the total tax bite could exceed 60 percent here.

But the rich aren't paying their "fair share."

Regardless, it sure was nice to see a liberal - especially one that contributed to Obama's reelection campaign! - complaining about his taxes.

December 19, 1932 -- March 9, 2013

Long Beach

Harry Weathersby Stamps, ladies' man, foodie, natty dresser, and accomplished traveler, died on Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Harry was locally sourcing his food years before chefs in California starting using cilantro and arugula (both of which he hated). For his signature bacon and tomato sandwich, he procured 100% all white Bunny Bread from Georgia, Blue Plate mayonnaise from New Orleans, Sauer's black pepper from Virginia, home grown tomatoes from outside Oxford, and Tennessee's Benton bacon from his bacon-of-the-month subscription. As a point of pride, he purported to remember every meal he had eaten in his 80 years of life.

The women in his life were numerous. He particularly fancied smart women. He loved his mom Wilma Hartzog (deceased), who with the help of her sisters and cousins in New Hebron reared Harry after his father Walter's death when Harry was 12. He worshipped his older sister Lynn Stamps Garner (deceased), a character in her own right, and her daughter Lynda Lightsey of Hattiesburg. He married his main squeeze Ann Moore, a home economics teacher, almost 50 years ago, with whom they had two girls Amanda Lewis of Dallas, and Alison of Starkville. He taught them to fish, to select a quality hammer, to love nature, and to just be thankful. He took great pride in stocking their tool boxes. One of his regrets was not seeing his girl, Hillary Clinton, elected President.

He had a life-long love affair with deviled eggs, Lane cakes, boiled peanuts, Vienna [Vi-e-na] sausages on saltines, his homemade canned fig preserves, pork chops, turnip greens, and buttermilk served in martini glasses garnished with cornbread.

He excelled at growing camellias, rebuilding houses after hurricanes, rocking, eradicating mole crickets from his front yard, composting pine needles, living within his means, outsmarting squirrels, never losing a game of competitive sickness, and reading any history book he could get his hands on. He loved to use his oversized "old man" remote control, which thankfully survived Hurricane Katrina, to flip between watching The Barefoot Contessa and anything on The History Channel. He took extreme pride in his two grandchildren Harper Lewis (8) and William Stamps Lewis (6) of Dallas for whom he would crow like a rooster on their phone calls. As a former government and sociology professor for Gulf Coast Community College, Harry was thoroughly interested in politics and religion and enjoyed watching politicians act like preachers and preachers act like politicians. He was fond of saying a phrase he coined "I am not running for political office or trying to get married" when he was "speaking the truth." He also took pride in his service during the Korean conflict, serving the rank of corporal--just like Napolean, as he would say.

Harry took fashion cues from no one. His signature every day look was all his: a plain pocketed T-shirt designed by the fashion house Fruit of the Loom, his black-label elastic waist shorts worn above the navel and sold exclusively at the Sam's on Highway 49, and a pair of old school Wallabees (who can even remember where he got those?) that were always paired with a grass-stained MSU baseball cap.

Harry traveled extensively. He only stayed in the finest quality AAA-rated campgrounds, his favorite being Indian Creek outside Cherokee, North Carolina. He always spent the extra money to upgrade to a creek view for his tent. Many years later he purchased a used pop-up camper for his family to travel in style, which spoiled his daughters for life.

He despised phonies, his 1969 Volvo (which he also loved), know-it-all Yankees, Southerners who used the words "veranda" and "porte cochere" to put on airs, eating grape leaves, Law and Order (all franchises), cats, and Martha Stewart. In reverse order. He particularly hated Day Light Saving Time, which he referred to as The Devil's Time. It is not lost on his family that he died the very day that he would have had to spring his clock forward. This can only be viewed as his final protest.

Because of his irrational fear that his family would throw him a golf-themed funeral despite his hatred for the sport, his family will hold a private, family only service free of any type of "theme." Visitation will be held at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Jeff Davis Campus) for their library. Harry retired as Dean there and was very proud of his friends and the faculty. He taught thousands and thousands of Mississippians during his life. The family would also like to thank the Gulfport Railroad Center dialysis staff who took great care of him and his caretaker Jameka Stribling.

Finally, the family asks that in honor of Harry that you write your Congressman and ask for the repeal of Day Light Saving Time. Harry wanted everyone to get back on the Lord's Time. 

 It was written by his daughter, Amanda Stamps Lewis...he sounds like one hell of a man.  I wish I could have known him...

Rand Paul: The Future of the GOP

If the GOP leadership is smart (I'm not counting on it) they'll actually back Rand Paul...




...Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio...but the GOP isn't known as the party of stupid for nothing...

GOP Leadership Is the Problem, Not The Solution

The really sad thing is, this is what grass roots bloggers like myself (http://thevailspot.blogspot.com) have been saying for the past 2 years. The GOP "elite" establishment is part of the problem. They are NOT part of the solution. They have spent the past 40 years "going along to get along" with the Dem's that they have given up all of the principles of the GOP. They rail against increased spending, then pass "continuing resolutions" because they lack the back bone to stand up the the Dem controlled Senate (which hasn't passed a budget in FOUR YEARS!).


Boehner doesn't have the strength of charecter, or the moral will to pass a budget and send it to the Senate, then refuse to do any more business until the Senate passes a budget. He needs to send every single member of the GOP caucus home to talk about how the Senate (Dem control) has refused to do it's Constitutional duty of passing a budget. He needs to send out every single member of his causus to tell their constituents how Obama has not submitted HIS budget plans within the Constitutionally mandated time period...Obama is now more than a month past due with his budget.


The GOP leadership in the House and the Senate need to start a scorched earth publicity battle with the Socialist Democratic Party and begin to explain to voters just how they want to tax and regulate America into 2nd world status...just like Dem's have done in California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. (Those states economies are the weakest in the nations due to Blue State policies of heavy regulation of business).


The GOP leadership is part of the problem, and not part of the solution. The GOP is well on the way out as a political party because the leadership in DC are just as much to blame as the Democratic party...they are statists in all but name. It's time for them to go!


The Tea Party movement started because the GOP political leadership has failed utterly in following the principles that the party stands for. This is what happens when the leadership of a party become divorced from what the grass roots desire. The GOP used to stand for smaller, less intrussive government, but our leadership is so enamoured of it's pork, and spending other people's money, that they are now the problem...not the sollution. It's time for the GOP to join the Federalist and Whig parties on the dust heap of history. They have failed to stay true to the tenents of the party, and have lost their way politically.


I suspect that within the next 1o years, unless the leadership weans itself away from the cotery of lobbyists and "experts" (who have by the way lost every election they were in charge of since 2004) that there will be, if not a massive change, they will be tossed aside by the surging Tea Party movement.


Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio weren't elected because they are "establishment" candidates. They were elected by the Tea Party movement. While the TP isn't perfect, and has chosen some horrendous candidates, by and large, it is the future of fiscally conservative movement in America. The GOP leadership ignores them at their own peril.

Financial Situation is Desperate

Just found a job...but that doesn't help the 5 weeks w/out income. in 2008, when I closed down my own shop, I didn't know that in Maryland, when you're self employed, you can't collect unemployment benefits...even if you had unemploymentt coverage for you emp'loyees...so, for the past 5 weeks, we've had only the income from my wife's part time job @ Sears.

I've finally found work and start on Monday (60 mile commute)...and Cheri's gotten a full time job, but that doesn't help much being 2 months behind on rent. We'll be out on the street by the end month as the landlord isn't going to let us catch up on what we owe.

5th Week Out of Work

Still out of work...and I get no unemployment benefits.  Not sure what we're going to do.  We'll lose our apartment by the end of the month.  We need $1,500.00 to pay rent and utilities.

GOP To Cave On Gun Control

It appears that the Party Of Stupid's Elite leadership is prepared to cave on gun control.  From a couple of reports, they will allow a national data base that will record all gun sales and ownership to be created.  This give the government quite literally a list of everyone who buys and sells guns across the country.

[The] Republican Majority Leader is leading the charge to cut a deal with President Obama.
The following are just some of the threats to innocent school children and our God-given 2nd Amendment liberties that Republicans are about to shove down our throats:
1.The NRA is cutting backroom deals to centralize gun owner data collection into the Obama/Holder massive government data base.
A centralized system is less costly to fight and far more lucrative for the NRA to appear to be “fixing“.
Like all establishment political lobbies the key to their job security is assisting in making problems they end up being called upon to “fix“.
2. Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor is leading the charge to give Obama and Holder what they want in exchange for appearing to be “fixing” the problem of innocent children being butchered in our public and private schools.
3. Newly appointed Republican Judiciary Chairman, Bob Goodlatte R-VA 6th District, is providing political cover for the sneaky back room gun control deals and gun grabbing sell outs that his political masters - – John Boehner and Eric Cantor – - are cutting with Obama and his corrupt Attorney General, Eric Holder.

Political insiders have confirmed to me, that Goodlatte earned his brand new chairmanship by ignoring the constitutional demands and grievances of every Republican Unit Chairman in his own 6th district.

Eric Cantor and  Paul Ryan are the ones leading the charge on this one.  What makes this so onerous is that for the 1st time, the government will know WHO is buying and selling.  That's the first step towards confiscation.  For the 1st time, an American government will have the ability, if it so decides to take away firearms from lawful citizens.  That's the slippery slope.

This also calls into play the rumours that the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, was planning to pass laws without a majority of his GOP caucus.  The GOP ain't called the Party of Stupid for nothing.  Then there's this;

You might think that with Republicans in control of the US House of Representatives there would be no way ANY gun control legislation could reach the floor.

But sadly we are already beginning to see so-called “conservative champions” folding to pressure from the anti-gun media to sell-out gun owners.

Former Vice Presidential candidate, Congressman Paul Ryan, has stated that he would support legislation that bans private sales at gun shows.

In the House, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, along with the help of Rep. Scott Rigell (VA), Patrick Meehan (PA) and others, have stated openly that they will work together with anti-gun Democrats from Maryland and New York to tighten restrictions on private firearms sales and expand background checks.

Possibly even more upsetting has been Senator Tom Coburn’s willingness to work alongside anti-gunner Chuck Schumer (NY) to propose “bi-partisan” anti-gun legislation in the Senate.
Make no mistake, so-called “expansion” of background checks is little more than a blatant attempt by anti-gunners to register all firearms and gun owners in America.

That is why Representatives Steve Stockman (TX-36) and Paul Broun (GA-10) have drafted a letter to Speaker Boehner and the Republican leadership urging them to require the support of the majority of Republican members in the House before bringing any anti-gun bills to the floor.

This so-called “Hastert Rule” would mean that 117 Republicans would have to support a particular bill before it had any chance of getting a floor vote, not just the support of the anti-gun elitist in leadership.

If the Republican elite leadership really wanted to to destroy the party and go the way of the Whigs...this is surely it.  They were winning the hearts and minds of America, which has been hardening its position on defense of the 2nd Amendment.  By caving into Liberals & Democrats demands to do something "for the cheeldren"...will be the rock upon which the party crashes.

There can be no compromise upon America's right to defend ourselves against the tyranny of government.  The 2nd Amendment is the rock upon which that right stands.  To force any crack into is to lead to the loss of that right and therefore, NO COMPROMISE may be allowed.  None, nein, nyet, ni...NO COMPROMISE.

This issue could lead to taking back the US Senate...by forcing the Senators in red states, who are up for reelection to take stands that are against their consituents desires...it cost Dem's Congress in 1994...and will in 2014, but only if the Party of Stupid isn't struck by Stupid!  Don't listen to just me.  There are people all over the country that this will enrage.

Such political ploys would be unnecessary if the GOP weren’t filled with such weasels. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of these reports, but I have followed Cantor and Ryan for a while now on firearms freedoms and gun rights, and it doesn’t surprise me in the least.

It’s fascinating that the GOP leadership would be willing to sacrifice their careers on the altar of political correctness. And it will cost them their careers. I don’t know how else to say it other than to keep repeating myself. The gun owners who recently waited in lines for three or more hours to pay exorbitant prices for guns were not repeat buyers (long time gun owners like me already had most of the firearms we wanted and so we are purchasing ammunition now). They were first time buyers.

I’ve watched them at the ranges. I have overheard their conversations, I have watched them at the gun stores and gun shows. I have heard their relatively ignorant questions (not ignorant because they’re stupid, but because they’re in the process of learning). They are not us. We already have guns. These are new gun owners. The polls they are trotting out to show the number of gun owners decreasing are all lies.

I don’t know whether the questions aren’t being honestly answered or what other source there could be for the error. But the polls are in error. Don’t believe them. And as for older gun owners like me, and even the newer gun owners like I have monitored for the past half year, we have made it clear with our voices and wallets. No new gun laws. None. Period. Not one more inch. Not one.

I've been saying for a while that it's time to either get rid of the leadership of the GOP in Congress.  They've gone along to get along for so long, they don't know how to do anything else.  They've sold their principles for invitations to be on the "A" list for party invitations inside the beltway...forgetting that the Republican Party used to have ideas...ideas like small government...staunch support of America's right to defend itself from government tyranny...balancing the budget...

Principles are important...until you throw them out the window.  When you do that, you can forget why you were sent to Congress.  The GOP leadership has forgotten what they stand for.  It's time to either get rid of them, or get rid of the party they putatively represent and find new leaders who WILL stand for their principles.

Harry Reid, who is known to spin anything in a positive way, had some fun with his great, great uncle...

Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California , was doing some personal work on her own family tree. She discovered that Senator Harry Reid's great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor.

 The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows in Montana territory:

On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: 'Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.'

So Judy recently e-mailed Senator Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle.

Believe it or not, Harry Reid's staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her genealogy research:

" Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory . His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic event held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed ." 

 That took some talent.

Democrats New Jim Crow Laws

Following the Civil War, Jim Crow laws were the Democrats successful attempt to  keep southern blacks in thrall.  By keeping them unarmed, they were helpless to White Supremacists in the KKK.  The Klan managed for almost a century to keep black in the South from voting their consciences. 

The newest attempt at rolling back the 2nd Amendment are only the Democratic Party's attempt to put ALL Americans into chains forged by the government.  Here's a video by Starr Jones conflating exactly that...

Sequestration: The Big Lie

You know what really annoys me about all of the Obama administration rhetoric is that spending cuts will occur.  That's the lie.  Sequestration isn't about spending cuts...it's about FUTURE GROWTH of spending.  That has nothing to do with spending cuts now.  It means that Congress (should) bind itself to an agreement they made in 2011. Unfortunately, no Congress has EVER kept a promise to not increase spending.  At least not since the 1920's.

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

...of the US Constitution.  That's an impeachable offense to say the very least.  Furthermore, it's very near (if not de facto) reason for launching an insurrection against the Federal government.  I hope Mr. Paul is successful in forcing the Obama  regime to repudiate this unconstitutional act.

Additionally, if this government follows through on it's threat to execute American citizens on US soil, without Constitutionally required steps, that government becomes illegitimate...and THAT is a leap that I don't think that the Obama Regime is quite ready to take. I sure as hell hope they don't because that will lead to a constitutional crisis that we've not faced since the Civil War.

On the other hand, this would explain why Democrats are trying so vociferously to restrict access to firearms.  Also, it would explain why DHS has been buying up millions of rounds of ammunition.  They may well be getting ready to try and confiscate American's firearms, and reduce our ability to defend ourselves from the tyranny of the Federal government.

Sequestration: Stop the Madness!

Here's a few ideas I had on how to fix the budget issues that are now facing America..  They're fairly basic, but they would eliminate the deficit AND allow us to start paying back our grandchilren's legacy that we've stolen from them.

1. Eliminate the Fed Dept of Education (it has failed to meet any of the goals set for when founded). Education is a state matter, not a Federal one.
2. Eliminate the TSA. Turn over airport security to the airlines. Make them liable (in civil court) for ANY terrorist acts that occur on their airlines.
3. Eliminate Dept of Homeland Security.
4. Eliminate the Dept off HHS
5. Eliminate Dept of HUD
6. Cut back ALL Federal spending by 25% (40% would be better...that's how much the Dem's racheted it up after they took control of Congress in 2006).
7. Pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to the US Constitution.
8. Repeal ObamaCare...government doesn NOTHING efficiently...and this act has already increased the costs of health care by 25%.
9. Have 37 states pass an amendment to the US Constition requiring ALL laws passed by Congress to APPLY to Congress (no more exemptions)
10. Eliminate ALL exemptions from the tax code. Pass a flat tax for ALL individuals AND businesses. No more subsidies for "green jobs" or oil companies or...the auto industry.
11. Eliminate ALL government subsidies to business and agriculture.

If we could do this, we would be able to begin paying off the debt within 4 years...but our political class consists of cowards, rogues and thieves. They don't have the will to make the tough decisions that are required to save our Republic. We have just about run out of other people's money. It's time to face facts, we've been borrowing from our great grand children for more than 70 years. They're going to demand payback very soon. What can't go on, won't...

This week, the Democrats in the US Senate put forward a plan that save the corporate jet tax loophole. You know the one Obama blames on Republicans...and has for years. Here, ABC (yeah, one of the MSM has caught Obama in a lie) asked Jay Carney about it:

The Senate Democratic plan - which has been endorsed by the White House and is, in fact, the only Democratic plan actively under consideration right now - doesn't touch corporate jets. We asked Carney if the White House is upset that the Senate Democrats' plan protects corporate jets. His answer:

"Our position - in the president's plan that has been available for ages but republicans and some reporters pretend doesn't exist - is that the corporate jet loophole should be eliminated. We'd be fine if it were eliminated as part of the revenue component of a sequester buy-down or as part of broader tax reform in a bigger balanced deficit reduction deal. Either way. And either way, Republicans oppose it, and would rather see sequester hit than ask corporate jet owners to give up their special tax break. How is that not true?"

Even if the Senate plan did end the tax break for private jets, it wouldn't make much of a difference. The tax break - which allows the owners of private jets to depreciate their airplanes over five years instead of the standard seven years for commercial airplanes - would raise less than $300 million a year. That's a tiny fraction of the $85 billion in across-the-board cuts scheduled to go into effect this year.

With this administration it's all about political posturing.  They don't want to talk about truth...just posturing and talking points. More here. Is it just me, or does this administration have fun with the truth?
