Article 1, Section 9, Constitution of the United States

If this is the law of the land...why in a republic (little r) and as republicans, do we allow mere POLITICIANS to the right to use a "title of office" for the rest of their lives as if it were de facto a patent of nobility. Because, as republicans, this should NOT be the case...just saying...

START Is A Bad Treaty

It's pretty easy to see why Mr. Obama is pushing the new START treaty so hard.  It does to the American nuclear arsenal what his economic policies have done to the American economy.  Pretty much guts it.  Here is exactly WHY it's such a bad treaty:
  • It forces the U.S. to reduce its stockpile of nuclear weapons, and makes our existing nuclear arsenal unreliable
  • It gravely reduces the ability of the U.S. to defend itself by banning the use of missiles to shoot down incoming missiles
  • It compromises our sovereignty by creating a Bilateral Consultative Commission---which could open the U.S. up to more restrictions without Senate approval
  • It requires sharing missile defense secrets with Russia---who could then use that intelligence against us, or share it with rogue nations
  • It abandons the "trust but verify" monitoring deal with Russia, undermining our ability to know what kind of missiles they are developing and testing
  • It forces the U.S. to eliminate as many as 150 delivery vehicles, even though they may be used for transporting conventional weapons, so it harms other military actions---and it allows Russia to ADD more than 130!
  • It does nothing to address the danger of nuclear terrorism, ignoring the threats we face from Iran and North Korea

All of these have the cumulative effect of reducing the deterrent capability of our Nuclear arsenal.  While no sane person really has a desire to use these weapons, they do have the ability to deter anyone from using them against us.  By radically reducing our nuclear arsenal, and down-grading that which remains, we, as a nation  become less able to defend ourselves from much smaller nations, such as Iran  which is rapidly building it's own nuclear arsenal.   While they don't have the ability to reach the US directly, Iran can reach most of Europe.  Additionally, they have begun basing missiles in Venezuela that CAN reach the US...no imagine such missiles equipped with nuclear weapons...ones that can reach an arc as far north as Virginia and as far west as Arizona...literally  millions of American lives would be at stake...and with the banning of a missile defense system...those people would be under the power of a country that has set itself at war with the United States since 1979.

Urge your Senators to vote against the new START treaty today.  This treaty should be voted on in a hurried manner...not for any reason.  Look what happened when we had to have Congress hurry and vote on ObamaCare...only too late have we seen just what a mess THAT is. Playing with our national defense shouldn't be hurried.  Vote quickly on this treaty is wrong.

Shades of James Earl Carter...Obama Surrenders to the Russians

Mr. Obama has decided to reprise Jimmy Carter's antics from the '70's...he's chosen to cave into the Russians and sell out the Poles & Czech's just as Jimmy Carter did (& Johnson, for that matter in '68). They have proven to be our closest allies (excepting only the British, whom Mr. Obama insulted with his ill-thought out gift of DVD's) in the present conflict against Islmic extremism.

Mr. Obama has chosen NOT to build Third Site missile defense emplacements to defend eastern Europe against the threat of Iranian ballistic missiles. The behavior mimics that of Mr. Carter, who sold out the Poles and permitted the severe crack downs by the Polish Communist government against the Solidarity Movement in the late 1970's.
According to reliable sources, Obama administration officials are on their way to Poland and the Czech Republic to deliver very bad news. The administration intends to cancel completely the missile defense sites that had been promised to these governments by the previous administration...Four senior Obama officials, including Under Secretary of State for Arms Control Ellen Tauscher and Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security “Sandy” Vershbow, are apparently in the air right now on their way to Poland. Why? If the Washington hot rumor mill is right, to deliver the news to the Poles and then the Czechs that the administration has decided not to go forward with a missile defense system for Europe and the United States against the budding missile threat from Iran

This sellout will seriously damage any future relations that we would have with any country in the new Russian Sphere of Influence, knowing as they do, that our government cannot be trusted to guarantee treaties and defense agreements.

When the diplomats come home, no doubt they'll wave a piece of paper and declare "Peace in our time..."

Mr. Obama promised during the instant election campaign that we'd have new relations with Europe, and he was right, we will...eroded good will that Mr. Bush painstakingly built up over 8 years, Mr. Obama has thrown away in 8 months.

UPDATE: Via the WSJ...
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125317801774419047.html?mod=djemalertNEWS
The White House is scrapping a Bush-era plan for an Eastern European missile-defense shield, saying a redesigned defensive system would be cheaper, quicker and more effective against the threat from Iranian missiles.

On the other hand, Russia on welcomed the news, saying it saw no reason to offer any concessions in return for surrendering the sovereignty of Poland or the Czech Republic. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is reported to have called the plan a "responsible move" by the Obama administration. He has threatened in the past to station tactical Iskander missiles near Poland's border if the U.S. system was deployed in eastern Europe, to counter what the Russian government perceives as a strategic threat to it's hegemony over what is considered to be their area of domination.
The Bush plans on the missile defense as we knew them until now were nothing more than a provocation of security in the European region," said Dmitry Rogozin, Russia's ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, in a phone interview.

Still, the capitulation is likely to be seen within eastern Europe and Russia as a signal victory for the Kremlin over American interests in the region. Mr. Medvedev will meet with Mr. Obama to accept his surrendering of American influence in eastern Europe to Russia, at next week's meetings of the U.N. General Assembly and Group of 20 industrialized and developing nations. This is similar to what FDR and Harry Truman did when they gave Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria to Ioseph Stalin at Yalta and Potsdam in 1945.
