If this is the law of the land...why in a republic (little r) and as republicans, do we allow mere POLITICIANS to the right to use a "title of office" for the rest of their lives as if it were de facto a patent of nobility. Because, as republicans, this should NOT be the case...just saying...

#GamerGate: My View

After following #GamerGate for sometime now, I believe that this is just a sad attempt by "Social Justice  Warriors" to preempt something that is fun (online games) and ruin it. Paula Wright has a great post on this , but I couldn't post my comment so  here it is:

I'm a gamer and I currently play World Of Tank/World of Warplanes/World of Warships. I've played those games since March of 2011. Previous to that I played City of Heroes/City of Villains for 8 years. Additionally, I played NavyField. In all that time, I've never seen anyone harrass a woman in the public chats. Ever. Every time I ever saw anyone who was a "real life" woman ask for help, some of the best players in the game (or server) always came forward to help and did so constructively.

I don't know what Sarkeesian is harping about because in 11 years of playing massively multi-player online games, I personally, never witnessed any of what she is claiming. I have met several wonder women online in those games and I know of at least 3 that have met and later married men they met playing.

So when I hear about the allegations that Ms Sarkeesian makes I wonder just where in the hell she dug them up. While I am more than willing to admit that there are [can't print that term in a family friendly environment] in any given game, I just can't see what she is talking about.
I'll try to link back to her original post...

Farewell, from all of us at Paragon Studios

I just found out today that a game, a MMORPG, that I've been playing online for the past 8 years is being shut down.

This morning we announced that Paragon Studios will be taking to the skies of City of Heroes for the last time.

In a realignment of company focus and publishing support, NCsoft has made the decision to close Paragon Studios. Effective immediately, all development on City of Heroes will cease and we will begin preparations to sunset the world's first, and best, Super Hero MMORPG before the end of the year. As part of this, all recurring subscription billing and Paragon Market purchasing will be discontinued effective immediately. We will have more information regarding a detailed timeline for the cessation of services and what you can expect in game in the coming weeks.

The team here at Paragon deserves special praise for all that we have accomplished over the last 5+ years. These developers are some of the most creative and talented people in the gaming industry. By now, we've all been given this news internally, but to anyone who may be reading this message after the fact; know that your hard work and dedication has not gone unappreciated or unnoticed. To any potential studios looking to grow your team; hire these people. You won't regret it.

To our Community,

Thank you. Thank you for your years of support. You've been with us every step of the way, sharing in our challenges, encouraging us to make City of Heroes better, more than everyone else thought it could be. We couldn't have come this far without you. I implore you all, focus on the good things of CoH and Paragon Studios. Don't dwell on the "how" or the "why", but rather join us in celebrating the legacy of an amazing partnership between the players and the development team.

Thank you, and I'll see you in the skies, one last time.

I for one, will miss the game, it was a hell of a lot of fun running around like a bunch of 4 year olds, playing super heroes and super villains.  On November 30th, City of Heroes, City of Villains will be no more...

NCsoft: City of Hero's...q

I, and my son play this silly online game called "City of Heros" (City of Villains & Going Rogue).  Its basically a bunch of 4 year old playing super heroes (or super villains) depending upon your point of view.  They recently updated their system...so much so, that I can't figure out how to pay for the damn game.  I have being playing for almost 6 years (16 months off due to poverty)...but with thier "new" system, I can't figure out how to pay for the game.

It's not like I'm wealthy.  I just got a small bonus through work (holy shit, we can pay rent AND NCSOFT!!!!!!!!).  But their new sysatem is so comlicated, I can't figure out how to pay for my account.  Please someone  let me know how!!!!!!

I don't  have many ways of wasting the day but, CoH realtively cheap....but I can't figure out how to pay the damn game...and I've been playing for years...!!!! hafta hate the "new upgrade"...big sigh
