Article 1, Section 9, Constitution of the United States

If this is the law of the land...why in a republic (little r) and as republicans, do we allow mere POLITICIANS to the right to use a "title of office" for the rest of their lives as if it were de facto a patent of nobility. Because, as republicans, this should NOT be the case...just saying...

Sat Night Health Care Vote Sign of Weakness?

The American Thinker has an interesting take on the late night vote brought by Nancy Pelosi. Their take is that it shows weakness by the Democratic leadership in Congress. That by burying the vote late on a weekend, they limit the amount of exposure to constituent angst to members of the House.
The plan was simple. News generates interest. Interest leads to action. The last thing the Speaker wanted was wavering Democrats to be broadsided with calls and e-mails from irate constituents. With no Rush or Hannity or Levin on the airwaves, with conservative bloggers away from their keyboards, Ms. Pelosi, the House Democratic leadership, and President Obama worked the floor or the phones, promising wobbly-legged members more pork and the chance to "make history."
I'm not so sure that it worked out too well for them. I've been talking to a lot of people here in Blue State Maryland who are...quite pissed that the vote was hidden like this. In a state that has been reliably Blue for decades, to have voters openly complaining about Democratic machinations is...unique and may very well backfire next fall.

I don't think that here the GOP will make in-roads, but i strongly suspect that fiscally conservative independents will...but it points out the hipocricy of the MSM in NOT protesting this outrage at all. If George Bush and the GOP had done something like this the MSM would have been screaming at the top of their lungs!
