Nemo me impune lacessit

No one provokes me with impunity

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

Article 1, Section 9, Constitution of the United States

If this is the law of the land...why in a republic (little r) and as republicans, do we allow mere POLITICIANS to the right to use a "title of office" for the rest of their lives as if it were de facto a patent of nobility. Because, as republicans, this should NOT be the case...just saying...

The Queens Riddle

By Anonymous...

Barack Obama met with the Queen of England. He asked her, "Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips you can give to me?"

"Well," said the Queen, "the most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people."
Obama frowned, and then asked, "But how do I know the people around me are really intelligent?"
The Queen took a sip of tea. "Oh, that's easy; you just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle."

The Queen pushed a button on her intercom. "Please send Tony Blair in here, would you?"
Tony Blair walked into the room and said, "Yes, my Queen?"
The Queen smiled and said, "Answer me this please, Tony, your mother and father have a child. It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?"
Without pausing for a moment, Tony Blair answered, "That would be me."
"Yes! Very good," said the Queen.

Obama went back home to ask Joe Biden, his vice presidential choice the same question. "Joe, answer this for me. Your mother and your father have a child. It's not your brother and it's not your sister. Who is it?"
"I'm not sure," said Biden. "Let me get back to you on that one..." He went to his advisors and asked every one, but none could give him an answer.

Finally, he ended up in the men's room and recognized Colin Powell's shoes in the next stall.
Biden asked Powell, "Colin, can you answer this for me? Your mother and father have a child and it's not your brother or your sister. Who is it?"Colin Powell yelled back, "That's easy, it's me!"
Biden smiled, and said, "Thanks!" Then, he went back to speak with Obama.
"Say, I did some research and I have the answer to that riddle. It's Colin Powell!"
Obama got up, stomped over to Biden, and angrily yelled into his face, "No! you idiot! It's Tony Blair!"

should i be astonished at the pure witt of this riddle? Because frankly, it is about as intelligible as the facetious moral itself. The same conservatives that once said we should stand by the president of the united states regardless of party lines now are slanderous, cantankerous biggots. What is this country coming to?

Yes, of course, I guess you forgot that "dissent is the greatest form a patriotism", but not when they control the reigns of government...Democrats are the ones who threw out the 200 year old "rule" of "Politics ends at the shoreline".

Remember the Dixie Chicks when they slandered George Bush at a concert in the UK? Where were you then? How about the "Bush=Hitler" slanders? Silent? Of course you were, because you agreed with it.

Of course, former Presidents don't speak out on their successor's agenda's...unless they happen to be Democrats. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton spent 8 years slandering the then sitting were silent, weren't you.

Liberals are great about crying "victim" when it suits them. It's your stock-in-trade. It's what you do best. Get off your high-horse and enjoy some satire now and then.
