Companions

We became companions
On a field
Along with
Many other
Set of companions.
We vowed
To serve
To protect
And to
Go down together.
The field is empty now
But we
As companions
Will forever
Embrace our vows.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as “bad luck.” Robert Heinlein

“We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, gotten the economy moving again,” Obama told a crowd in Decorah, Iowa. “But over the last six months we’ve had a run of bad luck.” Barack Obama 2011

"The task of weaning various people and groups from the national nipple will not be easy. The sound of whines, bawls, screams and invective will fill the air as the agony of withdrawal pangs finds voice." -Linda Bowles

John Kerry, Hypocrit...bails on Massachusetts Taxes

The hypocrisy of the liberal left can be breath taking at times.  Take for example, United States Senator and former Presidential candidate John Kerry (now the senior Senator from Massachusetts).  He, and his family's (i.e. his very wealthy wife's trust) have saved $500,000.00 in taxes by docking their yacht in Rhode Island, rather than in the state they live, Massachusetts.
Sen. John Kerry, who has repeatedly voted to raise taxes while in Congress, dodged a whopping six-figure state tax bill on his new multimillion-dollar yacht by mooring her in Newport, R.I.  Isabel - Kerry’s luxe, 76-foot New Zealand-built Friendship sloop with an Edwardian-style, glossy varnished teak interior, two VIP main cabins and a pilothouse fitted with a wet bar and cold wine storage - was designed by Rhode Island boat designer Ted Fontaine.  But instead of berthing the vessel in Nantucket, where the senator summers with the missus, Teresa Heinz, Isabel’s hailing port is listed as “Newport” on her stern.
Mr. Kerry is from a state that is deeply in debt, and still collects a 6.25 percent sales tax as well as an excise tax on yachts.  According to sources Mr. Kerry's boat, the Isabel sold for nearly $7 million.  This means that Mr. Kerry  and his family saved roughly, $437,500 in sales tax as well as avoiding the annual excise tax of about $70,000.  This is a man who could have been President of the United States, yet he, like many in the present cabinet of President Obama, have managed to avoid paying taxes that the rest of us are forced to pay.  It must be nice to be wealthy...or to marry those who are.
