Nemo me impune lacessit

No one provokes me with impunity

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

Article 1, Section 9, Constitution of the United States

If this is the law of the land...why in a republic (little r) and as republicans, do we allow mere POLITICIANS to the right to use a "title of office" for the rest of their lives as if it were de facto a patent of nobility. Because, as republicans, this should NOT be the case...just saying...

Charlie Crist Won't Return GOP Donations

It turns out that Charlie Crist (I ?) who until recently, was running for the GOP nomination for the now open Senate  seat in Florida.  Once it looked like Marco Rubio was going to trounce him in the GOP primary, he bailed on the party (which recently auctioned off his portrait on Ebay).  Many of the people who donated money have begun to demand that he return it.  Here's his answer:

Having grown up in Florida and lived there for thirty years before moving north to rediscover seasons, I actually got to meet Mr. Crist in the early 1990's.  I didn't think much of him then, and think even less of him now.  He's merely another opportunistic politician who believes that he's "entitled" to this seat...I hope that the voters of Florida disabuse him of that notion...
