According to my source, Mr. Cooper won't be paid nearly as much as Couric was. However, there are incetives in the contract that state that if ratings rise and advertisers return, his runumeration will increase, possibly reaching parity with Ms Couric. Evidently being an anchor will allow Mr. Cooper to spend more time with his "partner" Ben Maisani, with whom he has recently purchased a home, a former firehouse being renovated in New York's West Village.
UPDATE: Here's what the NY Times reported two weeks ago...
CBS executives, mindful that Katie Couric’s contract expires in a little over a year, have talked to Anderson Cooper of CNN about an anchor job, according to two TV veterans informed of the meeting.
CNN on the other hand is reporting that this is false, Mr. Cooper only met to negotiate his 60 Minutes contract....developing

Cooper already put out a few statements stating unequivocally that the Haitian baby story is false and he is not adopting any babies.
Thanks. I hadn't seen them yet.
There is no way in this world I could possibly care any less about Couric's ratings. Or any other CBS, CNN, ABC, MSNBC, etc. ratings. However, I do worry about that bus that everybody gets thrown under. Gotta be crowded under there. Speaking of buses, has Conan O'Brien managed to extricate himself yet? Who cares?

Maybe you'd better check your facts before you post anything, then you wouldn't look like such a fool.
