Twas the Night Before Cloture
From the 1st comment in an article in Politico.com
It was the night before Christmas, and all through the Senate The Left voted for a health care bill, no matter what was in it The majority of people don't want this kind of reform But Democrats blew off the gathering anti-tax storm “We'll need more pork” , they cried with a grin “More handouts for all, will keep us voted in!” They knew hard working folks want less Government help "but let's tax them right now,” they cried with with a yelp So try as they might, Republicans could not win Because Democrats common sense was simply too thin And then a few holdouts raised such such a clatter That the Senate Libs rushed to see what was the matter All sprang up from their desk and ran from the floor Straight through the cloakroom and right out the door And what in the world would be quite so raucous? But a lot of bribe money for the Democratic caucus The president, and Harry Reid, knew what to do More handouts and Pork for Nelson and Landrieu More rapid than eagles, the provisions they came And they whistled and shouted and called them by name “Doctor Shortages, rationing, Strip medicare, what a plan!” Amnesty, Abortion and Higher taxes! 'Yes, we can!” “No exclusions or changes for Lawyer Lawsuits, Hurry! Don't read it ! We'll look so astute.” The Democrats all came together because of some bribes . At the expense of taxpayers that Christmas Eve night And then in a twinkle, I heard under the dome The roll call was closed, and it was time to go home Despite a few heroic tactics of some The filibuster had broken, the wrong side had won And a poor bill was ready for President Obama Ready to sign and begin the sad health care drama Democrats explained as they drove out of sight “ Big Government for us and less Constitutional Rights."
