Let's Have Genuine Tax Reform

Talking about tax reform is all the rage all over the Internet. Mr. Obama needs to raise $400,000,000,000.00 to off-set some (but not all) of his huge spending increase. I have a couple of ideas on how to do that.

1. Eliminate the IRS, institute a 20% flat income tax, remove ALL exemptions excepting only that of poverty. If you don't make enough, you don't pay anything. Extend this tax to all businesses, and individuals who reside in the US.
2. Simplify the tax code. It presently comprises several hundred thousand pages. (see #1 above). No companies should get exemptions for any reason.

Presently there is nothing "fair" about our tax code. What is fair about someone who works their fingers to the shoulder blades and EARN $1 million a year, but taxing 60% of that amount. That's not fair at all. On the other hand, by taking EXACTLY the same PERCENTAGE from each and every one of us is fair. Taking from those who "do" to give to those who "won't" is the opposite of fairness. If we eliminate all exemptions, then the wealthy won't be able to "hide" income, nor will they have a reason to...
