If this is the law of the land...why in a republic (little r) and as republicans, do we allow mere POLITICIANS to the right to use a "title of office" for the rest of their lives as if it were de facto a patent of nobility. Because, as republicans, this should NOT be the case...just saying...

But Then Again...

...there are anniversaries and there are anniversaries.

Today marks the 222ND anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution. Which, incidentally is the FIRST written constitution in history.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Our so called "political elites" seem to forget that all power in this country stems from WE THE PEOPLE and they ignore our wishes at their peril. We can, and often do, "throw the bums out" when our collective desires are ignored. I strongly suspect that a political realignment is underway that's not been seen in 30 years. Mr. Carter attempted to govern in much the same way Mr. Obama is doing, and was, in his words "summarily retired" by the electorate in the worst election defeat in our history. It remains to be seen if such will happen in 3 years and 6 weeks (or so), or not.
